I posted this once already, but the answer has to be wrong, for I did this seemingly a thousand times now ...
When I have to bail outta tehe 'Ton, I help Paul until every last of those fascists is dead. There's no one around any more. Definetely. I investigated everything.<br />But as soon as I get to the MJ12 base, Paul's dead. And there's nothing I can do about it.
How can I save Paul's live? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

IIRC, heading out the window of Paul's rooms at the 'Ton when the MiBs arrive will result in his death. Getting out through the front doors of the hotel (if you're lucky enough to do that) or surrendering to the MiBs will keep Paul alive.
<span style="background-color:#000080"><font color="#202080">Frankly, it makes very little difference to the story. Far as I could tell the only significant difference was a bit more exposition and dialogue from Paul later on in the game, and a brief (but totally unimportant) meeting with him later on.</font></span>

santaClaws - I went through the same thing. I fought my way out of the hotel 3 times only to find out that paul was dead. I found that if I let my character 'die' in Pauls room, Paul lives. Good Luck.

AFAIK, the Gingerbread Man has it right, the only thing that causes Paul to die is to get out the window at any time after Paul tells you to do so. This also applies if you've taken out every living being in the hotel. Going out the front door is what keeps Paul alive. HTH

Bogeyman and Gingerbread Man both have it right. Paul dies if -- once the raid begins -- you go out his window. This is true even if you kill everyone in the raid, and even if you go out the front door but then come back in through the window.
Keep clear of that window. You can get hit and "die" or you and Paul can take out the opposition - either way will do - as long as you stay away from the window. I've proven this by going through the SDK.

OH.. heard about this as well .. didn't try it out yet, though.<br />I was just courious about whether ther's a way of saving Paul
and avoiding casualties. I don't wanna do it the Schwarzenegger way. But as Paul is my brother .. guess I have to try it.

He's invincible. Let him take all the heat.
Anyways, I actually tried to help him in the firefight once with an assualt rifle but I accidently shot him and then he capped me! Let him do it all, then you go in and collect any spare pieces of ammo lying around.
