How very unfortunate that some people must insist on deliberately reading posts out of context.
I am simply saying that I would like to see more Thief games in the future...and logic suggests that future games will continue to use actors that devs find suitable for their needs, such as for mo-cap etc. It isn't necessarily going to be Romano at that time of course, it could be a completely different voice actor. It could even be SR! Who knows.
If you are somehow trying to say that I personally don't hold any wish or desire to see SR back and voice a future game, and I'm here to rub peoples faces about it, then you are wrong. This is what I mean about people taking posts out of context.

Well, people here want the same.

"Their" needs? For whom the devs are creating the game, for us or themselves? What about our, consumers' needs?

No, it couldn't. Mr. Stephen Russell is getting older (let God keep him well!), like all the people in this world. He is 60 now, and when Thief 5 will be released, he will probably be 65 or even 70. Do you really think that, at the age of 65 or 70, Mr. Russell will be more in better state than at the age of 60?

Glad I bought thief5.com, although it probably won't be called that anyway.

This makes me sad. People place so much emphasis on age and not being able to to a job just because they're 'older'. I just started watching the revamped Dallas. Larry Hagman, may he rest in peace, still stole the show at the age of 81. He could act circles around the younger cast. So Stephen is 60 now and like many I wanted to hear him reprise Garrett one more time...it may have even been for the last time. God keep him safe, may he have many years ahead of him.

Exactly. Spread the word... then I won't have to keep explaining the obvious in my posts.

Both parties have needs.

Perhaps not, but my cousin's business partner is 74 and he's probably fitter than he is! Age is so much more than a number.
Anyway... how did a simple statement about signing SR's thank you card go so off-topic....
Never mind... just asking means it will start all over again. Spare me.

Blaming it on a fan petition that back then achieved little is a bit too much.
And you are simply reading too much into my statement. Yes, here at TTLG especially these days, it is so common to do this. I merely was making an historical footnote, hence the "remember also" thing. I guess I will try and curb those tendencies of mine. I have already shed my "nonsensical" fanatic posts, I might as well just ignore *all* crpg history entirely.
jtr7 on 7/4/2013 at 19:28
I wouldn't have even guessed that anyone was blaming a petition, just pointing out the timing of things. The petition was put up, and it didn't matter, 'cause Origin died.

Really? What about $549 billion the USA have spent in 2011 for Medicare, the medical program for
old people? Do you really think that all of them are healthy? Christ, do I need to explain you such an obvious thing that Thief: Deadly Shadows will probably be the last Thief game with Mr. Stephen Russell as Garrett, just because of some 'fans' from EM who disagree with the whole Thief community?!

I can't answer for others, everyone has their own needs as a business or customer, right?
What are your needs? They could be the same as mine, his or hers... or they could be different.

No, you don't need to explain the obvious thing about SR's health as Garrett; I never disagreed... I said 'perhaps' - meaning perhaps you are correct; and then went on to explain that health/age can only be fairly assessed on an individual basis.

I wasn't talking about prevention. I meant in the way of offering our support and respect... and it was addressed to those who haven't been, obviously.
Your... 'logic'... (and here I'm using the word loosely enough to lap the Earth at the equator twice) is that we shouldn't pass judgment until we've heard the performance, and should instead offer copious support, as the decision is final. Which, for the record, we
have heard it. And it's fairly generic-sounding and lacks any and all nuance.
I mean, how far does this argument extend?
Are we supposed to wait for the game to ship so we can discern whether the performance is as utterly mediocre as we can already plainly hear it is during the myriad clips of it we've now heard?
The 'bring back David Bateson for Hitman 5' movement started after
one trailer! A trailer with very little
actual voicework, compared to the 'Out of the Shadows' teaser.
No one is arguing from an informational vacuum, here. We've heard it. It's bad.
At this point, it's less about Stephen Russell, and more about hiring the right person for the job. Which, incidentally, Stephen Russell happens to be ideally suited for.
The MoCap was completed months ago. And nobody buys that 'it all has to be done at once', because even if the game's development is tight as a drum, there will be what are called 'pick-up sessions' recorded until just months before release. And presumably, they aren't going to call everyone in to do exhaustive MoCap sessions in scuba suits so Garrett can squat and say 'Better see what's around that corner.'
I just don't buy it.
