Damn it jtr7, at first I thought we had started public funding to hire Stephen Russell to do some voice work for T4 or for a FM or TDM campaign.
Wait. This should be a thing. Why isn't this a thing?

Could we even afford SR? Wouldn't there be some sort of Eidos legalities involved? No clue, actually.

He already turned down working with the community in the past, and I would expect him to graciously decline. We could save funds going to him. Being a professional, and now unionized, it may not be a good thing for his career where the games industry is concerned. It might be a jerk move business-wise, even if contractually a non-issue. All that aside, I wonder how much it would take? Being a great audio director he likes could help all around. :p

I'm sure if we had a fundraiser and could do everything by the book, paying him his current rate...etc, then he would probably do it.

Write up the script for him, knowing he might not be able to do it!

He want want to but don't you think this would be seen in the industry as stepping on people's toes?

I don't see how. It's business. Egos should be checked at the door, if they're professional.
EM has made a professional decision to not use Mr. Russell, if another body were to hire him to play a similar character type in a different project, there should be no problem.
SubJeff on 22/4/2013 at 13:33
But you'd be hiring him to replace EMs choice.
If you were EMs choice you'd be really happy, I'm sure.

So? Who cares? Mafia Garrett already took money to perform cartwheels while doing voice work for T4. If we were to do a fundraiser and mod T4 (if that is even possible) with new lines delivered by Stephen Russel, who could blame us?
Who could do anything if a campaign in the Dark Mod uses new work by SR and it blows T4 out the water? So long as we don't use copyrighted stuff it's fine, and last time I checked names weren't copyrighted, and Garrett is a common enough name. Or would yo tell me that the Tomb Raider franchise has dibs on Lara for all time? :cheeky:
