Looks like Queue is kissing up to the wrong moderator.

Q was being subtle (for Q) (and I mean that in the nicest possible way, dear) and facetious. A matter of reading between the lines. With tongue in cheek. While hanging upside down and reading the post reflected in a mirror.
;)
Worked for me.

No, I got it. Really. But hey, as an aside, I'm not sure I can handle you referring to him as just a single character, like he's Prince or James Bond's gadget guy or something. :weird: :laff:

@Nuth: Are we talking about the old or new Garrett?[
I was talking about the old Garrett. The quote was from a lead animator talking about the new Garrett. It just made me think once again that EM has missed the heart of Garrett(which is essentially the heart of Thief). Explains why EM could so blithely recast Garrett.

@Brethren: That's partially due to laziness on my part and partially because he rather reminds me of the ever-mischievious 'Q' in the Star Trek series. TTLG's bad boy. ;) (Well, one of them.)
@Nuth: if that's how the T4 devs see Garrett's character, then yeah, I'd say they'd seriously missed the point. I never thought of Garrett as scary. More mysterious than anything. As I said before, our old Garrett would've gone to great lengths NOT to be noticed. If your appearance scares someone, then you're not going unnoticed. In my opinion, the NuGarrett would stick out like a sore thumb.

Yep, that's pretty much how I see him too. Mischievious & charming. I'm just grumpy today. :p
Dia on 30/4/2013 at 19:34
Good Lord, woman! Eye exam, dental torture, and taking care of your dad all in less than 24 hours? Yeah, I'd say you've got a right to be a tad grumpy. Have some wine & go have a lie-down. We promise to behave ..... well, for awhile anyhow.
;)

Maybe later. I'm a glutton for punishment, Dia. What can I say?
I definitely think that this Nu look for Garrett is too far over the top. He's a Thief; he needs to blend. I don't know anyone who wouldn't take a second or third look at that get-up. I just don't think it's practical.

[Obviously people are people and they can say whatever they want. Not calling that into question at all. It makes the discussion more meaningful when people are just being themselves. Just agree to disagree. And, if we're parsing, the google definition of 'controversial' is "giving rise or likely to give rise to public disagreement," so it's correct usage. We shall agree to disagree...]
Yeah, never thought of Garrett as scary. More as a comforting figure to me personally, as well as misunderstood, private, withdrawn, all those isolation-y type adjectives. Also matter-of-fact and somewhat detached emotionally, at least externally. ("I make it a point never to take a job so sentimental" // "It's a rock, it's what you asked for" etc)

Yeah, Garrett was startling, an intruder, an infiltrator, a trespasser, a voyeur, an eavesdropper, a person who'd look through others personal things without permission, who'd steal from anyone and everyone though the rich had his scorn. He was scary in ways that had to do with crime and inappropriateness and being where he ought not. Not in appearance, which shouldn't be an issue for a guy who's trying not to be seen by everyone, yet who does get out when the sun is up and does legitimate business with the people at times.
