Have you tried hitting the dislike button on the aforementioned video? I see that there are only 63 'likes' and 0 'dislike'(s), which I find rather odd considering that one rabid poster (SneakyGuy2013) most probably hit the main 'dislike' button a couple hundred times by now. I tried hitting the dislike button not only for the actual video, but for a couple of comments I didn't like either, to no avail. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same weirdness.

Ok looks like we're back to normal. 114 likes, 253 dislikes

Sounds like those people clicking the 'dislike' button a couple hundred times have broken the system. :laff:

I don't think you can like\dislike a video more than once per user. What you can rate several times (if you wait a few minutes in between) are the comments. I tried it a couple of times, and it works for the comments.

Oh right. I visit YT every day to listen to music and I never use the like/dislike stuff, so I'm pretty clueless as to how it all works. :o
But it seems to be running okay now for those who do use it.

Dangerous for EM because if they actually listened to the hard-core Thief fans they might actually produce a game that we feel is true to the Thief saga and world of Thief, which (in their opinion) wouldn't sell as well as a game geared towards what the majority of gamers seem to like nowadays?
That's exactly what he meant. Thief is now a *massive* investment for their company, and they need to do everything they can to recoup that money. If that means adding car chases and explosions, then that's what they'll do. EM
has to be primarily interested in making a game that sells well. Pleasing the fans or making something that is worthy successor might be nice, but only if it doesn't get in the way of their primary goal.

Lol'd. Sadly, you have a point. A very depressing point. EM has been very firm in letting us know that they are going to do T4 their way. And that will be the way that will sell lots of games and make lots of money for them. I doubt that our opinions matter one whit; we're a minority and they have all the rest of the gamers out there feeding the T4 dev team's collective egos by wholeheartedly embracing and encouraging auto 1st to 3rd person switches, auto-parkouring, auto speed-runs, collapsible tough-as-shit-looking bows, and a bad-ass emo-ninja-looking main character, etc., etc. Yeah, reinvent Thief to the point where it pretty much becomes something out of an alternate universe wherein Garrett's history has totally changed and he becomes the Garrett we never knew in the first place. They keep crowing about the success of DX:HR. HR was a
prequel and the continuity of the original DX games was still there, for cryin' out loud! T4 just looks like it's going to be a conglomeration of all the popular aspects of other popular games that have been released recently but with 'Thief' added as the title.
T4 does not sound like it's going to be the game EM initially told us it was going to be. I wish them well (when I'm not condemning them to Hades), but afaic with T4 all they're accomplishing is the killing of a legend. I don't know that I could even try to play T4 with even a modicum of the objectivity with which I tried to play TDS. And I think that's what it's going to take; to be able to disconnect from the original Thief games and attempt to play T4 as though it's totally unrelated to anything Thief. God! How I wish they'd just change the game's title and name of the main protagonist! It'd make it all so much easier to swallow.

I wouldn't go that far. Pleasing hard-core Thief plans is probably on their list of things that would be nice to do; just not as high up as increasing sales.
They would also prefer to have hard-core fans spreading positive press about the game, if they can achieve that, so they will at least pay attention to what we're saying and try things that will make us happy (old-school mode, for example). But if there's a choice between increasing sales and making hard-core fans happy, there's no question which direction they'll go.

Stephane Roy
did go that far:

"We did make sure to listen fans, but we're not making game just just just for them because I think it could be dangerous." (3:32 mark of this video: (

Sounds to me as though they're already done listening to Thief fans and are continuing to make T4 their way. The way they think will be the most profitable for them. I've already accepted that much.

Yes, I agree. Though there doesn't seem to be a lot of hard-core fans who are willing to spread positive press about T4 lately. More like the opposite. And yeah, I'm sure EM will continue to pay lip-service to our wants/opinions with off-hand phrases like 'old-school mode', etc. But I fear that's all it is, hype and lip-service. Sorry, I'm just finding it increasingly more difficult to get excited about T4. With every new bit of information released it's sounding less and less like a game I would want to play - that is, as a Thief game.
Guess I'll just have to wait for my old grumpy-recluse-gamer-Thief-fan friend to buy the game and leave it on my front porch after he's done with it. He's already expressed his opinion of what EM's doing to Thief, but I know he'll go out and buy the game just to see if his fears will be confirmed. He did that with TDS; left it on my doorstep when he was done with the game, with a note that said, 'Store wouldn't refund my money for this POS. Feel free to throw it in the trash when you're done.' (Something to that effect - can't find the note right now.) Thanks to my grumpy buddy, I've played games I wouldn't have gone out & spent money on in the first place. I'm beginning to think T4 will just be another one of those.
