(

It's very early in developement, so everything is subject to change. What is most important to me is that it's going to have (at least for now):
- subscription based multiplayer (SP free)
- Ships having working 16bit computers (whatever that means in practice)
- seamless landings into planets (so no loading screens etc.)
Sounds very Eve online to me.

The computers seem to have programmable assembly code. Guessing that'll be one of the pillars of the economy system (and now, the horrible bastard in me is wondering what glorious, evil things you could do with that. :D )

That's the thing that's worrying me - I have no idea about coding of any sorts in practice, so will I be hopelessly left behind players who can do all kinds of cool shizzle?

I don't know. Even the title is all "sup, nerds?" It's 16 to the 12th power in hexadecimal, which is how many years you've been frozen for.
You'd at least expect it to try and have a larger appeal, though.

I figure it will probably be something you can buy off them - selling programs on the free market.
..Hm. Between the two, this could be the first software piracy & space piracy simulator ever made.

I'm guessing from the title that he wants this to be the most unmarketable game since "AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!".

Haha yeah, that does make for a kind of surreal metagaming, pirating software for the game you actually bought.
Space & Sci-Fi economy sims have always gold for me though, ever since Elite, and one of my favorite games ever is Hardwar. If he makes it as ultra-sandbox like it looks, I think I'd be pretty happy playing it.

I guess Notch has enough wealth and fame now to release a game with an unpronouncable title. It's sorta like when Prince changed his name to a symbol.

Finally a place on the internet that isn't complaining about subscriptions costs and sees the possibilities of a more emergent eve-type mmo with some actual ship-management going on.
Especially the part where it'll actually keep your ship and computer going when you're offline.
