To be honest, I don't remember a single servant existing anywhere in this mission. There are only thieves, cultists, spiders, frogs and a wolf from what I recall.

were you playing updated version or original version? i will get same version and find out if he is in mission anywhere,i must find him now
i find it strange a npc who is not in mission appears ,so amazing to me so i want to see if maybe we scare him where he might go?,ofcourse knocking out the 2 guys with lanterns before hand
also the distance he had to travel to get to that point so quickly is impressive,i am guessing he might be from that house area where you do the bed puzzle? or the so called haunted place? i cant think of anywhere else a type of npc might be
also if someone knows code could they see what up with that see if it was a unused npc?/etc

I played the recentmost version, which I think is 1.3.

I've had it happen to me , I only have version 1.1 which was current the last time I played it.

I’d forgotte that. I also had that happen when I briefly re-played the start to check on something. I had to blackjack him because he could see me and started to make a fuss in the usual Kevil manner when I tried to get by him. I think I carried him out of the way because I was unsure if the other two guys would be alerted. I didn’t know if that was an extra random challenge (in my case on Normal on the original version).

You definitely couldn't play the newest version, because in it throwing flowers has been blocked. You can only drop them. So you must have played some older version.

That bug with the servant should have been fixed in the latest version. The servant is not in the mission, he's in a blue Room. It's technically impossible for him to get into the playable space of the mission, but for some reason the game sometimes has other ideas.

He's a conversation actor for some of the scripted events. I never figured out how or why he got teleported into the level; I think I solved it by making him invisible and non-physical in the end, so not fixed per se, but the bug shouldn't be noticeable to the end user.

ok everyone i got an update,i replay start of mission so many time i lost count i never saw the servant,but i did hear him when close to the tiny water pit by start with statue i hear him humming by the wall in back behind water pit in newest version,i tried to figure out how to get to him,but there is no way to in game
it reminds me of that one mission where you in a forest running from tree beasts and in one area you can see a small group of people through some trees,but you can access them,might have been rotb2 by those spider caves
but so cool nicked posted on him,also in the room where you find the bolt cutters the guy in the bed on top level was as close as i could get to someone who looked a tiny bit like him,i am glad i replayed mission as i cured Rebecca from her curse and took he up stairs to the bed and laid her there
and yes one of the first things i did was make the fire,so i could enjoy it a bit more 5/7 secrets for sure got more then my first run
but over all it was cool to see him appear,i just love the weird things in missions
