a similar thing happened to me when i did this, after all was mastered i tried to save and it didn't save. I was forced back to my last saved game. It tried again and only got about a few thousand extra points instead of enough to master everything and it still didn't save.
I however have heard of cases where this had worked. You shouldn't need it though, unless you are very, very bad.

I'll mess with the cheats after I've beaten the game <IMG SRC="angel.gif" border="0">

Word of warning here: those skillpoints exploits have been known to turn the game unstable, even if you can save.

Gee, I never had trouble the couple times I used the skill point bug attached to the door in the sub base. Of course, it does take a lot of the fun out the game if you're maxed out on all your skills.

Hmm.. I've never had problems either, when I used the skillpoint explot on the roof of the sub-base. I suspect that either only certain exploits have deleterious effects, or that some peoples' PCs would have crashed either way.

I've never had any trouble either.
The first opportunity for this that I know about is that mission where you have to scuttle the superfreighter. In the very first map you get to, just before you get to the map with the superfreighter, there's a guard patrolling a bridge guarding a locked hatch. The hatch leads into the room with the three "garages" patrolled by two mechs. This is the room where you're supposed to find more explosives, rockets and LAMs to scuttle the freighter. When you open the hatch you get something generous, like 150 skill points. You can open and close it multiple times to get as many points as you want. Time your right mouse clicks right and you can get something like 300 points every second.
I didn't cheat the first couple of times I played Deus Ex, but every subsequent time I've taken advantage of it (and I'm NOT ashamed of it either) to upgrade things like swimming, environmental, demolition, etc., things I normally wouldn't bother to upgrade.
Never had a problem. But then again I wasn't greedy about it.

I thought the patch would fix those bugs but it didn't..
