I'm suspicious that the early leaks were market research and it would be interesting to one day read about how the decision was reached. If that is the case, then well done everyone with the self fulfilling prophecy.
I'd always assumed the T silliness was a recruitment move. I'm sure it generated more than a few inquiries from experienced developers suddenly interested in moving to Montreal.

The fact that it took a year (?) until they probably all arrived and things could be made safe (?) sort of confirms this idea.

I don't understand how it could be anything but a Thief sequel.
It's Thief 4. ;)

'The most recent game in the series was Thief: Deadly Shadows from 2004, which was really rather good.'That comment (in Eurogamer) alone scares the living hell outta me.
:weird:
It is a good game. It may not be the sanctified T1/T2 experience but it's still a very good game. The Cradle alone puts TDS above most commercial titles.

I don't like parties. Parties have people drinking alcohol and being happy for no serious reason whatsoever. There are some who hint that I might be missing something but I can always say alcohol isn't healthy and thus defend my position.
Playing TDS cannot spoil anything serious(ly) I think, I'm not less critical towards its flaws that other people (left aside matters of taste) and so I'm indeed happy that I can enjoy it more than others. More fun at my end, although "fun" isn't exactyl what a typical Thief experience is for me. And although there might be people who want to burn me at the stake for this: If I could choose between a Thief IV on Thief III level or none, I'd take the first. :p
