Jesus. This is why I have 2 15"s and 1200 watts in the truck. Can't believe I forgot the song of the year.

The disappointment of King of Limbs was made up for by Let England Shake
When you rolled a smoke
Or told a joke,
[Death] was in the laughter
And drinking water
god I love this woman

Was King of Limbs really that disappointing, though? I mean, taken for it is: a practically unpromoted, quickly released followup that sounds very much like the (great) album that preceded it... it's kinda good? Not outstanding at all, but I wasn't really expecting it to be.
And I really like (

I haven't got too many musical highlights this year, but there were a few surprises.
First was this one: (

The whole album isn't that good, but it has its moments.
Second thing was Julianna Barwick: (

Eerie atmosphere, layered and looped chorus-like vocal drones and simple melodies, but I never expected it to sound that consistent and fresh. Of course it's a must-have for all ThiefGen people - they'll be fapping to this for many nights to come.
And these guys have some kind of musical schizophrenia: (

Vocalist has pretty amazing skills, but the whole album's a bit too cheesy for me. It's cool that they can sound like that in one song, and it even sounds right, but those plastic keyboard tunes are meh in the long run. Still, this is my favorite :) (

Interesting stuff. Loop arts are pretty cool.
Completely different sort of stuff, but this guy is cool: (

Not quite sure how I missed this, but
King of Limbs would be an enjoyable but hollow listen if it sounded anything like
In Rainbows, which it doesn't.
King of Limbs is Radiohead regressing into
Amnesiac B side territory, which isn't a welcome development for those of us who got over "Fog" a decade ago.
Also: mediocre new music from Radiohead counts as horrible new music, which isn't fair but such is their self-created lot
