Some Valve guy was anon for a day yesterday and spilled his beans. It was enough for me to root for Half Life 3 on Source Engine 2.

Not too much. He said they were doing an overhaul on the Source Engine and he was calling it SE2, though he said you won't get confirmation (cf (
http://www.develop-online.net/news/37672/Valve-No-existing-plan-for-Source-Engine-2) this article last May) and IIRC gave some details about what it offered but went over my head. And he said the reason they haven't released HL3 media is because they don't like posting scenes or assets that are going to be redone anyway, and everything is still getting revised so much, and something to do with their workcycle. They don't set hard deadlines. They turn release candidates in at certain stages that get approved or sent back with notes and they revise stuff. Then something about HL3 is going to give details on who G-Man is. He said he's been working on the pyro video. Then a few things on other games but I didn't catch any real details that I recall.
