3ds2bin Path/File Access Error. - by Derspegn

If the bins don't have textures, they are pretty useless.
The object you show is WAY too high poly to use with Thief. You should try and restrict your objects to 1000 poly or less. There is a reason the OM objects look the way they do: they have to be LOW POLY.
You need to completely describe your setup so that we can understand just what it is and how best to configure it to work.
Also: get onto New Dark for your Dromeding. There is no downside, only up.

2) The Path/File Access Error still appears, although it is strange how a .bin appeared
This happens, if 3dstobin is trying to convert a file, but it can't to it. This is just a placeholder-bin. Delete it.
Try this setting in 3dstobin:
Advanced-->Start with file selector or reload the 3ds file
Don't use use 'Start with most recent 3ds file'. This feature is sometimes broken for some reasons.
BTW, your objects may have up to 1800 polys, not 1000.

Depending on the geometry you can have more polys than 1000, sometimes even up to 2000, HOWEVER some models with 1100 polys will fail. So, you should try to restrict your models to 1000 polys or less regardless. This will ensure that your models will work. Going higher is always an iffy proposition.
