Crazy mission!
"Basso will be furry-ous!" :laff:

Ok, this mission is amazing. 48 hours for something like that puts me in awe.
I have 3 things to note:
A question: Where is the optional objective evidence needed so I could warn the keepers?
A problem: I cannot get out of the Strags world, I come up halfway, with scary noises happening, but I cannot go through that cylinder-like area I am facing, nor does anything else happen, except the noises that go in a loop an some strange blue drops that fall down occasionally.
And a salutation: I LOVED the music played when going through the portal into the Strags world taken from that cutscene in Thief 1! :D That was so fitting and worked great with the atmosphere in my opinion.
But overall amazing amount of content here, especially storywise. Cool faction, honestly. I guess the author cheesed the graphics with just a few textures, but with the newdark effects it worked out great!

Quite a few people seem to have that issue. In order to escape, you need to allow the camvator to take you all the way out.
So, do not move ! If you still can't get out, then I am afraid you are lost in this world forever. :p

Found the book thx.
But still can't get out in any way or manner of acting. This sucks. :( Hope somebody at least puts up a Let's Play of this mission.

Hmm, it seems I am lost in this world forever then. Oh well, I finished my other objectives. This was still a satisfying mission.

That happened to me too, but when I reload before crossing this portal, I have been teleported correctly...
I hope that the author will fix that glitch after the contest...

I was very happy that this ran properly on my husband's computer. It turned out to be a very impressive effort for a 48 hour mission and I thoroughly enjoyed it! One of my favourites, for sure. :thumb:

The first time I started playing, I got into the first building; I looked in the two rooms with the chests to open containing some arrows (various) and purple carrots; I went forward into the room with the people -- without a crash.
Then I was detected and attacked; so I reloaded back into the room with the chests (the one without the readable). But as soon as I looked in the direction of the people further up the corridor, the game crashed to black.
I tried quitting, rebooting, then starting up again, but the same thing happened: I was unable to look that direction in the main entry corridor without crashing.
First: How do I tell which version of New Dark, 19 or 21, I have? Second, assuming I'm running on 21, then is there some way (other than running out and buying a new computer) to get past that spot? Or will the crashes keep coming thick and fast?
Thanks,
Dafydd
Edit: I went back to before I entered the first set of chest rooms. I was able to open the chests, look up the corridor, and move to where the people were without crashing. But after nosing around a bit, I was spotted in the large, illuminated room with gold candles on the tables; whoever saw me shot an energy bolt at me from behind (I didn't see who did it, but I think I heard a female voice). And at that instant, before the shot even landed, the game crashed again. (Note that I was not looking in the direction of the shooter but at a candleholder, so it doesn't seem to be a visibility problem this time.)
Yeesh.

Right click on the T2 icon and go to Properties. Under Properties, go to Version and under Version go to Product Version and read the Value.

Huh.
I extracted the 2.1 version of new_dark.zip and contrib.zip into my Thief2 folder. I think it replaced the earlier version -- thief2.exe has a creation date of 3/24/2013 -- but when I right click, check properties, and go to version, it still says version 1.9.0.0. What am I doing wrong?
Is it 2.1 or 1.9? Why didn't extracting from the zip file change it, since the date now matches the date in the new_dark.zip file?
Befuddled,
Dafydd
