48 Hour Contest Entry: "The Music of Sibel"
Contest DescriptionThe 48 hour contest challenged authors to create an entire mission start to finish in a single 48 hour period. Entries may have bugs or may be unfinished in different aspects.
Author: Withheld
Mission descriptionI have fallen on hard times recently and had to relocate
several times to avoid further assassination threats. The shoddy lockpicks
I bought off Farkus's shop over in Newmarket finally broke and I'm out
of funds. His stuff is the best but his prices are extremely steep and
there's no way I can afford buying anything from him for now. Things can't
get any worse, heh? Fortunately for me I think I found a potential job that
should be pretty lucrative. Gossip is rather uninteresting most of the time,
but I caught something the other day in a seedy pub. There is some noblewoman
in town, Laby Sibel, who apparently owns some sort of magical trinket that
should be worth a pretty penny if I can manage to steal it.
The trinket in question is some sort of magical wind chime or something.
The Sibel family is one of the oldest aristocratic families of The City
and they have a nasty reputation. They own and old and crumbling palace
in the Old Quarter, not far from the Wall and the river. The borough is
quiet at night but lawmen are still on the prowl for interlopers such as
myself. This job will be pretty tough without my lockpicks, but most of
the stuff in the Old Quarter is very old so some door or another probably
has a broken lock. And if I can't find a way down, I can always look for
a way up...

This mission is AMAZING !
It looks gorgeous, has that classic Thief feel, offers some nice challenge and climbing. My favorite so far.
Great work skacky :thumb:

I would like to second that. It had the potential of being much larger and had the time been there this mission would have had so much more to offer.
The guards however were a tad vigilante. I could hardly move without having one or more at my rear end.

Very good mission, it reminded me of the Dark Project. Too bad it was that short, but apart from that, I really liked it!

Nice.
But I just cannot find this little item that makes music. I hear its pleasant sound in the second floor hall in the Sibel Manor, but I cannot see it.

It's in the main hall in the first floor, in plain sight.

It's in the main hall in the first floor, in plain sight.I clearly have no idea how did I miss that. Anyway, this level is very well done and has good atmosphere. Thank you, Drk, for the help.

Now, this one would be the perfect stage for a big classic thief experience mission! Anyway, thanks for giving me five minutes of that unbeatable T1 feeling!

I can't believe no one mentioned this:
It was nice to deal with "infernal contraption" again. Though for a moment I felt like blowing it to pieces with a fire arrow :ebil:
Anyway: nice mission with a classic feel and a lot to do. One of my favorites in this contest :thumb:
