I actually had alot of trouble with lockpicking untill I read that usually it will alternate between falling faster and slower, so trying the pin after a fast fall is usually a good bet. Otherwise I went through tons of lockpicks, hence my frustration with heavy locks protecting nothing more than common household items, it's like putting a bankvault in your closet to store your slippers in, illogical and retarded. :nono:

There is a rhythm (different for every tumbler, quite long in the case of hard-v.hard locks), but there's an additional barely audible click when the tumbler is going to fall slower. Which doesn't help me very much, with my reflexes and all...

I've got one thing to add to things which annoy me about Oblivion :p :
When you use the grab button (LB on X360) on an object, not adding to your inventory or anything, you get accused of stealing. What on earth is that all about?! All you're doing is making it float.
Edit: Let's add another thing which I think has been said, but not for my reason.
The lack of NPC's. In some parts of the game, the lack of NPC's made for some pathetic cheering. ie. When you come out of the Bruma chapel with Martin, the townsfolk just shout "Martin! Martin! Martin!", and there were about 8 people in total.

One thing that annoys me about Oblivion:
Hieronymus Lex has no special dialogue about the Grey Fox when asked about him.

My lists of annoyances changes, especially when I can find a mod that fixes them. Nowdays, not being able to see what's chasing you when you're on your horse is Numero Uno. You have to rely totally on the threatening music to even KNOW something's there. If you get off and have a look and it's something fast, your horse has lost half its health before the stupid dismount animation ends. I have to constantly decide whether to ride on fast and try to lose it and find a patrol guard who'll take care of it for me, or get down fast enough and fight it off. But I don't even know what it is! If it's hog or mudcrab chasing me then I get endless ribbing from the guys "oooh, is the poor baby afraid of the big bad mudcrab?? I killed it for you, should I change your diapers now?" It's SOOO embarassing.
Just let us be able to turn all the way around on our horses for chrissakes. It was always unrealistic not to be able to anyway. Or make the music more threatening if it's something really dangerous. A trombone going "wah wah wah" if it's a hog, cellos going all tremolo on your ass if it's a mountain lion. Or trombones going "wah wah wah" against a backdrop of cello tremolos if it's both.
I know! Someone mod in a merchant who'll sell you rearview mirrors!
Nah, just kidding. Just let us be able to turn all the way around is all I ask.

I don't think he even has special dialogue when the gray fox asks him about the gray fox. Kinda takes the fun of teasing him out of the game.
And yeah, that is kind of annoying RarRar. One of many annoying things about horses that contributes to me not riding horses at all.

I wish you could give equipment such as armour and weapons to your "party members". Obviously it's not a party-style RPG, but for instance when you have a Mage Apprentice and Adoring Fan it'd be quite cool to kit them out in decent armour and give them better weapons, spells and potions.

Or toss 50 Restore Health/Shield/Restore Fatigue homebrews to someone you need to guard/escort.

The only real complaint I have about Oblivion is the time speed. It's not that's it's fast, it just moves so fast you can see the moon and the stars moving. It just detracts greatly from the realism when you find a summit at night and you're looking down at the Imperial City, moon in the background, and you realize the heavens are spinning around you at a very noticeable speed.
I know some mods make the time longer (it even makes it real time: 1 game hour = 1 real hour). It should make the sky and moons move slower too, though I'm not sure?

Now
that's a mod that I'd pay $2 for. Nothing more annoying than trying to keep an NPC alive (Bruma gate anyone?) without being able to give 'em better equipment.
