I decided I wanted to play my Thief Gold again, as there were no PC games on the horizon I was interested in (happening more and more for me, as a PC gamer!). I had the typical running the game on XP problems, and found not only that people had made fixes for the executable, fixes for the latest cards and CPU's, fixes for DirectX and even for widescreen monitors, but also there were texture, mesh and sound enhancement mods!
In between finding all the above mods/patches, etc, I found links and help here and well as other well know Thief sites.
I have installed all the fixes and improvements, and am now, as of tonight, playing Thief Gold in 1280x0124 widescreen with Thief 2 textures and meshes and much improved sound. It is, in effect Thief and a half that I am now playing!
Just finished the first mission, and all the fun of the game is back, so i just wanted to say here a BIG thanks to all the modders and programmers out there that have fixed and improved this great game to run on modern PC's and look and sound fantastic!
Thanks guys! The 100's of hours you put into to making your mods means 10,000's of hours of fun 2010 gaming for this great dozen year old game!

I'm trying to get mine set up with Thief 2 looks too, but I'm having a problem extracting to a "\fam\" folder.
What is it, exactly?
