Ion Storm completely ignored general fan consensus? Really? I guess that's why Thief 3 was a kart racing game.

the doors will be closed.
What I was getting at was that it was never open to begin with, or rather the open door is just painted on the wall ;)
Kidding aside, I didn't mean we should stop talking about what we'd like or not like to see, if you got that impression. That's what the community is here for, and it's fun (mostly) to talk about it, or just to vent.
I just don't think the "we must not piss them off or they'll stop listening to us" way of thinknig is much to worry about, since that's not how it works IMHO.

OK, completely might have been an overstatement ;). It could have been way worse, but it was far from what a Thief game should be.

I'm not worried about pissing EM off as much as I am concerned that if we allow the vicious-type of bickering & backbiting that can occur here at TTLG sometimes to run rampant we'll be sending the wrong message to EM. I mean, they've stated that they're really interested in our input as fans and at this point we really don't know how much of our input they'll be considering, so why allow ourselves to come across as a bunch of immature, nasty-tempered, & argumentative juveniles (if we continue along that line Garrett may very well end up with big tits and a rocket launcher)? I doubt
anyone would take us seriously if that's how we present ourselves.
It's one thing to rant about things you liked/didn't like in the previous Thief games, but to go at each other like a bunch of junkyard dogs just isn't acceptable. That's not the TTLG image we want to convey.
Hell; even now, after TDS has been on the market for several years, I can
still get a righteous rant going about how betrayed & disappointed I am by the game. The trick is to rant in a manner where you're not going for your fellow TTLG'er's jugular because he/she doesn't agree with you.
I'm just sayin', is all.

All well said, Dia. Nor is it representative of the TTLG community at large; certainly not representative of the Thief fan community here. They are a well-mannered and respectful bunch almost without exception. Certainly the vast majority are.

Agreed. Dia knows how I feel about the matter anway, and really, it's okay because it appears that we are selectively going backward in time and slowly removing any trace of disagreement from the forums anyway.

By far the most rational post I've seen on here since coming back.
It's amazing to me that someone can possibly start foaming at the mouth simply because someone else has a difference of opinion. It's that kind of psychotic behavior that gives communities like this one and the internet as a whole a bad image. Then again, I'm reminded of John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory:
Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total Fuckwad. It's a sound formula that I think holds true.
