This Halloween weekend, I went to a pretty good haunted house. I was standing in the waiting line with a small group of friends listening to a recording that sounded a lot like the weird vocals of the ghosts in Thief as we prepared to enter the "haunted area" surrounded by fog, and spider webs. I couldn't help but feel a bit of uncertainty as I heard the screams, rattles, and groans from those on the inside. My thoughts naturally strayed to Thief. Playing missions like "Shunned" "Sepulchre of the Sinistral" "What Lies Below" (just to name a few amazing examples but not all) really gives you an idea of how crazy it must be for Hammerites to embark on undead cleansing missions. As I went through the haunted house...I couldn't help but think what it would be like to go through the chaos armed with nothing but a hammer and a few jittery compatriots behind me (yes...I was in front) My conclusion when
I emerged 45 minutes later is we would probably have all been surrounded and eaten. I suppose this post ties directly with the one about "real life associations with Thief" but as it was Halloween, I thought I'd post it here all the same.
