Everyone says that jumping from the window ledge is the easiest way to mount the tree, but whenever I try it Garret either has a heart attack or slingshots off at a tangent and splatters against a wall. Still, as long as it works it's a good thing.

I don't think it's an easy jump (from the balcony to the roof). I got to the roof after fourth or fifth attempt. You need to make two or three successive jumps to reach necessary speed for the final jump. All I did was start at the very edge of the balcony and work backwards.
Facing away from the roof I jumped back along the balcony to gauge distances so that my final leap would be right on the edge. It's worked okay for me so far. Still, we all use different means to achieve the same ends.
Now I just have to get
all three keepers into a nice pile. Sadly, since I upgraded my computer to an Athlon 1333MHz, I can't (deliberately) slingshot as well as I used to.

I've had a look in DromED and it isn't there. Is this TDP only?

I've got a strong suspicion that this "Coloured way" is just another follower of the Bow Upgrade legend...

Your probably right Shrieker, but I dont really care if its colored or not, i just want up on that damn roof, and I keep missing even with the "jump acceleration". Ill just have to try some more I guess.

 One thing I would like to know is what TEXTURE that coloured way uses ...

The colours are visible only using 3D Hardware Acceleration mode. Dromed uses only software mode. The screenshots were made in Thief Gold.

I'd say it's impossible to kill the Keeper in the library, but seeing all the wonderful discoveries about unusual ways to do "impossible" things in Thief I wouldn't. I thought about the 3rd Keeper but couldn't find a way to kill him.
Anyway, good luck.

The screenshots were made in Thief Gold. The 'rainbow' effect is a function of the 16bit graphics where the neutral brown colour fades to black in staggered increments rather than as a smooth blend.

Anyway, good luck. No, you're right - it can't be done. As soon as you finish the first task, the door to the library closes and you can't get back :(
Foolishly, I had noticed that it remained open during the test and thought it stayed that way indefinately. Thus there is no way to push the second keeper back there to slingshot yourself up. And as the balconies in the testing room don't connect with the library you can't get to him that way.

Wll done! We all thought it was impossible, but this just proves the impossible is often the untried.:thumb:

I managed to slingshot myself off the doorframe in the library, but never got enough altitude to get to the walkway above. This works similarly to the npc slingshot; lean forward while at the side of the object, lean right or left while jumping, instant glorious acceleration. Also tried using the hallway to get enough jump acceleration but failed.
At first I didn't think I could nudge the Keepers up the stairs, but it works.
