Whenever i need to run faster in a dark engine game i just run forwards and strafe at the same time using the mouse to keep me at angle.
Always helps when youre running from the fuzz.:p

Both ways are possible shrieker.
I strafe/ran and used jump acceleration to make the first jump from the sparring area.
For the final jump - once you're on top of the beam, aim for the right corner and quickly mantle onto the stone ledge to your right.

Could we have a version check here please.
I have had a look in the DromED mission file of the training mission and it simply isn't there.
I've got ThiefGold, Product Version 1.37.

If the 'it' you're referring to is the texture that appears rainbow coloured, then I'll direct your attention to 242's and my own last posts on the previous page. They should explain why you cannot find the phenomenon using Dromed.

For those still not able to get onto the coloured walkway, have a look at this (click for larger version):

It is possible to get to the roof when you double jump, but there isn't really anything up there worth your time. I still dont see how you could manage to get the keepers out, as you cannot push them (or at least in my version you can't), and there is no wasy to get back to their rooms when you get to the roof.
