I think I'm the only one who can't find the key to the tower! I looked everywhere in that bedroom, and frobbed everything three times. I also can't find a breakable window over a blacksmith shop (optional objective)! There are a few places like the armory and also what looks like a metallurgy, that I thought might be the shop, but they don't have breakable windows as far as I can see. Just textures and bars. Am I missing the blacksmith shop entirely? Is there a sign for it? Why am I breaking that window, anyway? A grudge of some kind? Is the blacksmith the informant?

Bear with me because I'm tired from working 11 hours putting up a 50 million piece truck tonight. :eww:
The blacksmith's shop is the only place with double metal doors. There is a sign outside indicating that it is the blacksmith's shop, and everything inside is what you would find in a blacksmith's shop. The window to be broken can be hit with a broadhead arrow from the street, or with any object thrown at it. Any weapon will work just as well. The window is above the blacksmith's shop. If you stand next to the jail perimeter wall, but directly away from the double doors, you can see the window. I'm too sleepy to remember why you need to break the window. however it seems like a reasonable thing to do at this hour. ;)
The key to the tower can be found by frobbing a button near the ceiling above the bed. You will need to rope arrow up to be able to reach it. duh. :laff: Once you frob the button, the light switch on the wall wll slide to reveal a niche. The niche contains the tower key. :)

Just finished this one. . .can't believe how long it sat in my folder unplayed. lol But then, its always nice to find something neat waiting for you.
Anyway, great mission. I had a lot of fun with this one, though it was fiendishly hard in places. I finally gave up with some of the secrets and trying to get some areas I could see you OUGHT to have been able to get to, and I see I missed a few things that weren't secrets too. Great job. :) Be good for a replay later.
Anyway, one question, I played a good deal yesterday, then quit for the night, then came back to finish up tonight, and a couple of times when I passed the little girl (whats a kid that age doing out that late? tsk!) I heard this really weird voice. At least I think it was her. She was usually around or had passed a couple seconds before. She'd cry out, sounding normal, like a kid. . .and run away, then I'd get this really weird clip. . .sounded like a guy's voice, slowed down big time saying 'I hate you', and 'I hope they kill you!' :wot: It was not *every* time she was around, and only tonight.
Scared the daylights out of me the first time, though I passed it off as a glitch, but when it repeated . . . anyone else get this and. . .what on earth is it?

That little girl's voice is what you heard, and is one of the DedX characters. All I did is simply put the character into the mission. Talk to Rob Hicks about the voice. ;)
I'm glad you enjoyed the mission. Thank you. :)

A Dear John9818A Letter:
Thank you for your kindness in helping me after your long hard day. Building a truck? Good grief! I see where you get the patience to build such a complex mission.
In spite of the difficulties I had playing this mission, or maybe because of them and the challenge, the series went into my 'Fave FMs' folder for replay along with Calendra's Legacy, A Night In Rocksbourgh, The Seventh Chrystal, The Librarian and a few others. I left some things undone and undiscovered, so it can feel new again in a year or so when I replay it. Thank you again for the making of this wonderful series of fms and for being so patient with me.
I do know what a blacksmith shop should look like and the sign and all that, and how to break a window, but I'm thinking I must have passed it without seeing it somehow. Guess I'm as big of an airhead in Garrett's world as I am in real life. Sorry about that ... :o
And, yeah, that little girl was weird and creeped me out, too. She stumbled upon the helmeted guard, whom I had just ko'd, and threw an "I hate you!" at his inert body and a few other nasty phrases before running off.

:laff: No putting up the truck means stocking the contents/boxes from the truck - one of my 2000 tasks at work. :)

You might want to take note of the date of the post you quoted, Bikerdude. He put it up on Thiefmissions in Aug. 2005, so no, that doesn't mean he's back. :(

No, they are not better. In some ways they are more sophisiticated, but not better. I really enjoyed this series of missions, the quirkiness of the architecture, all the little hidey-holes and some unexpected twists in gameplay and plot. It was FUN!!! And that's the most basic reason we play these games, isn't it? It's why "Kill Factory" resides in that same folder.
ko was done with a fart (gas) arrow. :eww:
My dad and brothers like to build vehicles from crated parts -- kind of junk yard dogs. I thought that was your gig. Stacking the boxes probably isn't near as much fun. But your missions are. Merry Christmas, John, and I hope Santa brings you something nice!
