Or we might not be talking about thief-style as much as staying within the parameters of popular gameplay. All frob distances set at the default 7 foot; no wriggling into or through tight corners; no difficult climbing and jumping; easy readables with direct instructions; not too much complexity; no unexpected innovation; no variation from the expected.
That's not what I mean or meant to say.
I think a FM should have all of these "expansions" into the game, but I think it should be
PLAYABLE to go further on into the mission.
I get it when one can't find a clue or whatever. This forum provides in answers to these questions.
I'm not sure whether the players computer has part in this?!
I noticed that it took a great deal of time to reload a saved game in the Nightwatch FM. Perhaps I've got a problem here???
I also want to make a remark on me quoting about the word "Thief-like".
I hope you all understand that the english language is not my first language, so sometimes I try to describe words to make a statement.
I know this can lead to some misunderstandings in language.
I'm sorry for that, but I hope you understand that it can't do any better.:eww:

Yes, it is possible there might be some technical error that makes something not work on your system. I cannot otherwise account for the problem of getting the oil because I can just lean in and get it. If there is a corruption you could try re-installing, starting again from the beginning, then as soon as the first mission starts, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + End to go to Mission 2. See if that clears it. I've got a bad corruption in my Oblivion gamesaves and today I have had to go way back to an earlier save and lose what I gained.
No offense intended Gloria, I completely sympathise and no way do I want to cause frustration in the gameplay, we're just trying to determine the problems that players have.

I think it's just the computers--they're evil machine, destined to replace us as the dominant species.
And I for one would like to welcome our new masters, and give thanks for their benevolence and daily beatings. Without a firm hand, how are we supposed to learn?

i'm not surprised that you're stuck. this campaign was extremly difficult for me to finish as well, but at the same time it was a great challenge. this complexity is an unique element, which has become (at least for me) characteristical for night watch and shouldn't be changed.

I don't think I could have said it any better than you just did - this represents my view as well.

This was the third mission I beta tested. It is amazingly complex and remains one of my all time favorites. So much work was put into making this mission. Fidcal tried to strike a balance between an extremely challenging mission and a playable mission. I think he did an excellent job! I never get tired of replaying it.

I now know that I stopped at a former playround of this FM, due to the problems I had.
I'm playing part 4 now with the walkthrough (THANKS TAFFER!) and yet I get stuck! :erm:
I can laugh about it now.....:laff:
I'm in the dining room part, above the prison, got all the loot, playing with my life :ebil:, but there's NO guard who comes to the rescue .... so that all guards disappear  I'm stuck here forever.
I guess I have to start all over again ...... :sly:
Fidcal, with all that's been said: I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST FM'S I EVER PLAYED!!! challenging as it is, I mean :thumb:
but it could be a little more "playable" .... :p

Gloria: Is the guard KO'd? Dead? Stuck? (on reconsideration I seem to remember I introduced a new guard for this task so that couldn't happen.) Assuming you've given him time (and I think he eventually runs but it might take a minute or so while he is walking round before he notices the loot is gone because he starts right at the bottom of the Hall of Warriors.) then this is what I would try. Run in front of the door sentries to lure them away. Run upstairs to Gwendoline's room. All guards are instructed not to enter (see orders on wall at top of stair.) Make sure sentries have run after you upstairs. Run through secret passage and get to study that way.

Fidcal, I'm not sure what you mean here.
I'm at the place where there's a fireplace with two fire's in it, a piano, lots of tiles floors and two rooms with tables I can crawl under. It's the place above the prison area where Jack is situated.
I got all the loot from there but there is no guard who does what you're suggesting and that's written in the walkthrough I read.
I can't kill or BJ these guards because they are all dressed in iron suits and wearing iron helmets. There's also a big robot who lightens up the place
I did find the secret place to Gwendolin's room under one of the tables, but since I have no key of her room, I can't get out that way.
I think you just said me to go the other way around, but I really don't now how.
Did I miss a key or something?

I/m só addicted to this FM now, but Fidcal: "MAN, IT'S HEAVY":eww:
Against all odds: I managed to get to the little (is this the study?) library, luring all of these metal guards out of the way: THANK GOD for tables to hide under .....
But yet again: I spend all night trying to get "somewhere" and here I am now, :weird::erm: upstairs with some doors, locked ... and no keys....
I'm SÓ tired of this, this FM drivesme crazy :grr: and yet ..... I guess I'm an addict to this FM of yours, Fidcal. :weird:
and the worst now is: I've got just 5 hours of sleep to go on :nono::ebil:
