In this one, I actually rope-arrowed up to the piece of wood above the graveyard, took the arrow out, climbed along the wall to the front entrance, and rope-arrowed into the downward-slanting beam, and climbed up and got atop the archway. Took out arrow. OK, now save the game, and run down that arch, and jump across to the open window and in. It works! You can get into the tower without having to trigger the lever near the other haunt. Then, just work your way back out to the statue, grab the hammer, and then it's just a matter of getting out. Nightwalker, don't know how I missed seeing that arrow...thought I looked around pretty good but guess I didn't look in the right place or angle :D OK, I'll reload but at this point think my save is after I killed Zombie...but the ability to arrow up to beam is a "real" lifesaver, LOL I kept looking up around me as well outside all around trying to see if there was a way up but without a vine arrow (at that point) wouldn't have done me any good anyway...
So guess I'll load up in a bit an give it another try...boy he sure made this part difficult...not only the three Haunts...but the puzzle to figure things out...I'll be glad to finish and get on with something more easier...Soulforge on Hard :D I can't remember but I think I'm playing the patched Hard mode whereas before it was unpatched...wonder how different it will be? I'm just inside near podium in front with the two plaques that tell me where Plan Room and Factory D are located...already ran into a guard up top that I'd never seen before...but he's resting quietly now ;) Tee hee~
Actually, I have some more FM's yet to play too...so thank you all for your tips and tidbits and Good Hunting!

OK, I reloaded and zombie that I killed is standing up but frozen, LOL had me wondering at first if he'd come back alive again  :D Anyway, I found the arrow and guess I didn't see it cause of the way it was stuck in the ground and didn't see the shaft sticking out, LOL OK, so I've arrowed up to the wall and I can't see anyway to get arrow into the other side of wood block as the end is shorter than the other side and vine would be too close to the wall for me to get ahold of.....I did screw up my save though after killing zombie cause I used two arrows to test and forgot to reload and would have only needed one...so I've got four arrows left...wonder if I can kill the one near statue to leave me an easier opportunity to grab hammer with arrows?...guess I'm going to have to use my last moss arrow here as well, cause it looks like I'm going to have to drop down before I can try a shot at the wood block and then go to wood beam for the jump attempt into window like theef did maybe? As I remember...vine arrows as well as ropes cannot stick to cement...and that's the only other material around here near statue besides the short ended block. Thanks for anything else you can add to my dilemma :D Ta and Good Hunting!
I launched the vine arrow of outside.
I am assembled on the wall.
By using the key "to lean on the left" I replanted my vine arrow to go down on other side.
In bottom I took the hammer and at the good time, I actuated the lever and I went up on the wall with the arrow of vine.
Afterwards, I went on the other wall and I launched the vine arrow on the beam above the gate and from there to the elevator without to have killed Haunt.
Nightwalker on 16/5/2002 at 12:30
I planted the vine arrow on the inside the same way that Lady Jo did and it worked very well. That part is certainly challenging to get through, though. :)
The Fire Eater on 16/5/2002 at 20:06
looked like it would be too close...but if you say it can be done from there I guess I'll just have to give it a try...but......if I can't get ahold of the darn thing while running to get back up again and die...I'm gonna blame you two, LOL :laff: From what theef said...you/I don't need to accuate the lever...and I'd rather not have to try and outrun those two other Haunts...although it might be only one...cause I see no way to get to Haunt by the alter...he's too darn close and don't think I could outrun him and get up vine without damage...and I did lose a little in my dealings with zombie earlier :( I'm still irritated over no health points from food! Well thanks again ladies and catch ya later. Good Hunting!

oooooops!
The chapel part is actually pretty easy I thought....
all you gotta do do is just stay in in the darkest shadows along
the wall. the undead won't get you then. Just be cool and trust your nerves, the vine was just ment to be an escape route from the zombie
Sorry, I've been away for quite some time and missed this thread, maybe the spoiler
above helps, this mission is really sneaky so don't move too fast at the critical points.
This mission is quite small but you can't just run through...
The Fire Eater on 22/5/2002 at 20:18
You'll see I did finally make the end game but I have to tell you...chapel part was NOT the easiest....and you don't know my play style but I DON"T rush through any games...O.M.'s or FM's...I play very slow and methodical and try to find the best routes but then again I'm not a ghoster...I play usually easy or hard at most...and when I hide behind a door, crouched and a Haunt knows I'm there and attacks me through the door...then somethings wrong with the alert factor, etc. So I couldn't even get close to the door entry for a quick run inside to get to a hiding place...therefore, the vine arrow was a very important object for more than just an escape from a "Z" IMHO. The mission was very challenging and interesting to play...but in order to pick and find those workable hiding spots took more than one try in most cases....so that was not easy to do either. In other words, making a shadowed area appear safe that wasn't took it's toll on the player...then with no way to recover your health points did not help for a smooth gameplay after dying and needing to reload to save your health. I don't usually go on about an FM this way...but I felt the need to express my experience with it and the idea that you kept promoting...take it slow, sneak, etc. well I do take it slow and try to sneak as best I can...and the Chapel was not easy...but thanks for your efforts anyway to make a game for us to play and hopefully some of my comments might be considered in the future. Ta and Good Hunting!

When I played Night at the Pub I used a not very stealthy means
of eliminating the three haunts at the chapel. I pickpocketed the libary
key from the hammer priest but left him untouched and I left the hammer
in the nearby room alone, but I left all of the room doors open as well
as the libary doors. When I arrived at the chapel, I opened the doors
and made a commotion to get the haunts to chase me.
I was able to get two haunts to follow me into the Hammerite area where one got smoked by a priest. After some commotion and running like crazy, another haunt was downed by a hammer.
The third I backstabbed myself, then I flipped the switch.
It's fun making AI's fight each other!:thumb:

I too found the haunts daunting but if you play a "luring-to-BJ" style with guards, here's how I did it:
1. Outside the Chapel, enter the graveyard to the right and quickly snag the Urn and the Vine Arrow. A zombie will appear, so run out and head to the right and hide until he calms down. He parked himself (for me) between the door to the Chapel and the graveyard gate.
2. Go back to outside the graveyard gate. The zombie didn't notice me. Sight your Vine Arrow on the piece of wood directly above where you found it, and fire to secure arrow. This is your "escape route" for after what is to come.
3. Go back to the Chapel doors and frob (only the right one opens). Go in and move into the corner to your right and hide. The patrolling Haunt (with the lantern) will pass by, do a little stutter-step, and move on. There will be another Haunt across the way (guarding the switch) and a third off to your right (next to the fire-eyed statue). Ready your Sword as soon as the patrolling Haunt goes by, move in on him, and backstab to kill him. IMMEDIATELY SHEATHE YOUR SWORD, TURN AROUND, AND RUN LIKE HELL OUT THE DOORS, TO THE LEFT, INTO THE GRAVEYARD, AND UP YOUR VINE ARROW.
4. If all goes according to plan, both of the Haunts left will chase you into the graveyard. Continue up the vine arrow and drop down on the other side of the wall (you'll take some damage). Grab the Hammer the statue holds, but step back quickly because a fireball will pop into existence. You should now have time to go to the unguarded switch, flip it, go up the elevator and turn on the Shield, then get back down, out, and back to the Library.
5. The second time I did this, the Haunt guarding the switch did not chase me, but when I frobbed the Hammer, he came over and I backed into the corner, crouched, and the fireball killed him. Good to go!
Hope this is of some help to anyone who might play this way.
