I've been wondering for quite a while, What IS behind the door where Karras and Truart are talking? Are they actually there? Or is it just a recording? Please answer me! :thumb:

I made a video. It's disappointing when you realize your imagination really played off the information in the sound files.

It's so disappointing it pisses people off. Damn their imaginations!:ebil:
Since you never see the Servant, Karras, Truart, Brother Feagan, the beggar, the audience, or even the portcullis that opens and closes, let alone the recording device, etc., it was never necessary for the AIs to be there at all.

But why they made Karras @ Soulforge and all that chamber stuffs, that they are too is invisible to the player?

If you mean, why did they put Karras in a room you couldn't get to, it is simple! The whole point through the game is that you never actually see Karras. Then, when you finally get to meet the bugger, you can't even touch him. Same thing with the Trickster. Sometimes you gotta be able to read between the lines in a Looking Glass game. There is *always* more than meets the eye with them. I laughed (back in 2000) when I got to Karras at the end. It reminded me of a scenario from Heroes of MightMagic: Shadows of Death. The end bad guy kept running from you the whole scenario, then at the end he locked himself away behind a huge garrison. By the way, if you were able to do just a little searching on Karras/Trickster, you will find a wealth of information from through the years. There have been several really in depth talks about the subjects.

But... WAIT!! :wot: Are you telling me that in the original mission there's a way to see Karras directly??
Goldmoon Dawn on 5/10/2009 at 19:01
Well, poop.
Obviously not, friend. I was comparing the main villain in Thief II with the main villain in Thief I. They both employed deviously evasive tactics in order to achive their goal. Looking Glass Studios did this on purpose in *both* cases. I have a question for thee. Hast thou played any other LGS games, besides Thief I and II?

When you take an elevator up in Soulforge, you will see Karras' protective room, with him wandering around in it. Unfortunately you can't touch him.
