I have blackjacked the small spiders, but I had to crouch and lean forward to get very close. It was difficult enough that I would only do it when there were no other options.
Burricks go down with a loud roar after being blackjacked, the same as when they die, plus they have to be at Alert0 for the blackjack to knock them out, so it's not usually my preferred method.

Also, in the Bonehoard at least *some* of the burricks are hypnotized by the sound of the Horn. Keeps them passive until you steal the horn.
Mostly the ones that are closest to it, though, I did run into another that was slow to attack because of it.

It's funny as hell though. Reminds me of the scene in Blazing Saddles when Mongo punches out the horse.

I never have trouble blackjacking the Burricks. I usually do it the same way as most moving guards - stand in a really dark spot and wait until they come close. Lean forward and give them a whack.
The most annoying part with Burricks is that location in the Lost City. There are some admiring the view of a lava pool near some rooms with coffins. There is some loot in one of the rooms but I can't see any way to sneak past.

Just to be clear, small and large spiders can't be KO'ed (but the small ones only have one hit point and thus die from being blackjacked... Maw spiders are a different matter though)

It's not hard to blackjack 'em but once they've been agitated, you can't do it again. At least with guards, they'll go back to patrol & you can KO them later. Burricks though, you get that one chance. Another option is to kill them. It takes a few sword whacks but it's not hard to evade their gas balls.
I have killed Burricks who attacked me by blackjacking them multiple times. Wasn't really hard at all. It took about 6 or 8 whacks before they fell over, IIRC.

When it comes to "pointless questions" here's one for ya:
What the Hell does "creep" do? I've played through TPD and TMA, and always it does next to nothing. Guess it should make Garrett - well - creep. You know, through small windows, low passages etc. As a G.I.Joe Night Creeper fan I had expected more out of it.

Yea, I remember that part in the Lost City; it annoyed me that there isn't a way to ghost that part....
I used to blackjack or kill burricks on my first run-through; then, I used to be more an assassin than sneaksie thiefsie.
Nowadays, I tend to leave the Burricks alone; I regard them as my pets ( I can understand Ramirez).
(similar to how I treat the Guars of Morrowind now, like big, purring dogs)

I'm playing Down into the bonehoard, just feel strange that a patrolling Burrick don't attack me.
I'm at the red arrow sign, you know it right? And a Burrick patrol there. I attempted the rope for a good while and the Burrick passed by many times without any attention.
And, yeah, Burricks are somehow cute. But...well...can it be blackjacked?
lol - this cracked me up, I imagined Palantir as an inexperienced thief hanging from a rope arrow in a burrick cave as one keeps on strolling past him. In his inexperience and fear of fumbling a KO on these noxious beasts he resourcefully manages to scribble this note on some spare paper while still hanging onto the rope. Astonishingly, burrick still sniffing about calmly beneath his feet, he then ties the query onto an arrow and clumsily manages to fire his message into the ttlg forum. Relieved, he grasps securely back onto the rope, hanging around waiting for a reply (hoping it will come soon as his arms are getting tired)
