I've never played a FPS where elevators inhibited jumping, but I have also on more than one occasion suffered nasty glitches in game elevators, such as falling through the floor; getting stuck in the floor; suffering damage; etc. So I concur with Muzman -- if a game prevented jumping, I would imagine it would be to prevent this sort of occurrence.

Anybody else try jumping inside the elevator on No Mercy and clip through the floor?

He might be referring to the Left4Dead 1 campaign.

To be fair, I started thinking about this with Mirror's Edge and Deus Ex Human Revolution not allowing this. I don't really know about other games :P

It's actually explained in the commentary to Human Revolution - in an elevator moving downward past a certain speed, Jensen would get killed by fall damage upon landing.

It's because Cliffy B's no longer making videogames. In Unreal Tournament, if you jumped in an elevator you'd jump
higher, FUCK DA!
Yet you can't jump in any Gears game, regardless of circumstance. You have context-sensitive mantling instead.
