OK, we have 8 talismans in upper tower — 7 fake and 1 "with power".
But I've never seen any similar to "the hand with the sword". No pictures, statues etc. Even on the door there's no any sword:

And the door is guarded by a mage, not a swordsman.

Hmm… I'm not good at english — can "away from the hand with the sword" just metaphoric mean "counter-clockwise"? If you count the talismans from the door counter-clockwise, the seventh is the right one.

if you are trying to figure out the riddle, it is a little confusing, but ill give you a hint:

Watch the guards

Here is the solution if you don't want to think (Like i do sometimes)
[SPOILER]The guards will patrol past the talismans and only stop at ONE of them and "Guard" it. This is your Earth talisman.[/SPOILER]

BTW: don't try to grab every single one. You die unless you get lucky.
