A scary moment... - by jedynygucio

I wanted very much to share quite a scary moment I experienced while I was playing the Lost City mission on Thief Gold. I love this game and I play it once every 2-3 years, long enough to make sure I don't remember most things.
Do you remember the first square you reach with the obelisk in the middle and the two fire elementals patrolling it? One path leading up to it is patrolled by burricks, and you hop on the roofs to avoid being seen.
Well, I don't know how it happened, because I always do my best to ghost a mission, but somehow the burricks started going towards the square, and before I know it, I hear explosions and moaning sounds, I rush to the place, and I see the fire elementals completely bombarding the burricks! I was a bit careless because evidently the elementals saw me even though they ignored me while the burricks were there, and after they completely slaughtered the burricks, they raced all of a sudden after my ass shooting fire at me and I ran up a passageway into the second floors of all the houses and the fire elementals FOLLOWED me into the houses and I only lost them near the temple at the very bottom of the map with the diamond-shaped gems in the walls!
This is really weird because normally you don't get creatures interacting like this in the Thief world (or being so vindictive), as missions are dominated by one type of creature, and later on I the bug and monkey things seem to live in harmony with each other and the trickster.
I was scared $h!tl€$$! I love this game!

You haven't played the game enough. There's an area, won't say where. Get the burricks, zombies, and spiders to interact. Yes they do.

Pretty cool, eh?
Now THIS is scary on so many levels:
Kara Thrace
Karath Race
Precursors
ZOMG!
Coincidence??
Why...yes. Yes it is.

I can only think of the Haunted Cathedral as the only mission with all of the above, but I successfully ghosted it so I never brought the creatures in contact with one another. But their paths do quite often overlap, especially near the end , and I've never seen them interact. Is this the mission you meant?

It is that mission.
The game even tips you with a scroll saying that you can get them to fight if you attract one group to the other one.

Yup, play it again just for the fun of seeing them all fight. You be the bait, lure them all together, go in one of the side buildings, watch the fight. Fun to watch!

I don't know if my ghosting conscience allows me to 'expose myself' to the creatures there ;)! I'll think about it. It would be fun to see.

You've already proven that you ghosted it, nothing to lose! DO IT......DOOOOOOO IT. ;)

I remember the Battle of Market Street, as I like to call it, well. I think when I did it I ended up hiding down in the spider's nest. I heard the various groans from up above and all I could see were bits of burrick gas floating about, and then I saw one of the spiders jumping about 10 feet into the air to attack a zombie. When I eventually surfaced there were corpses everywhere!
I never got on with burricks in bonehoard and to save arrows I used to lure them into swarms of flies where they would be slowly bitten to death. Hopefully my stealth skills have improved since then.
