What's the name of the City in the the Thief Universe?Does it even have a name or is it just called "The City"?
Shoshin on 30/11/2006 at 04:14
I believe it's only ever referred to as "The City" in all the games.

For further clarification I give you a quote from the Mental Age.
"The light of the moon shone down upon The City, as it was called. Oddly enough, there were many cities in the world, despite what the name implied, but the original founders of the place hadn't had all that much imagination."

yeah...as far as i know, it's referred to only as "The City."

But what is Dayport/Shalebridge then?
Spiders on 30/11/2006 at 19:28
Dayport and Shalebridge are districts within The City.
New York City and London are two real-world cities that come to mind that also have boroughs/districts like these within them.

A list of most places that are considered separate from the areas that are grouped under the name "The City:"
Blackbrook
Illyria (from the beverage called "Illyrian tea")
Throve or Throvia (from "Throvian Artist Lizotte" and "Throvian summer wine")
Esse (mountain range)
Centauri Vineyard, New Hope (bottlers of "Biddleybong")
Bohn
Cyric
Dreckboun
Sunnyfair
Fendon
MageKeep
The Maw of Chaos
Beck o' the Wills (a Pagan village)
Markham's Isle and Starlight Cove
The Lost City, Karath-din
Warwick (from the fact that there's an "Earl of Warwick")
And we don't know the origin of the "Prinkish" and "Brillian (sp?)" languages/dialects. We don't know where Governor Horridge lives, but apparently it's cheaper to send him goods via an overseas route, yet his address doesn't name a city, only a street.
