hello

i am currently playing thief 2 again and i have got a ingame problem that's bugging me.how do you stop the red training tips that appear(USE door to open,USE key to pick up,etc).i am playing the mission "running interference".thank you

I don't think you get them if you play on Expert. Either way they won't show in any other mission.

You'll get them at the beginning of Shipping...and Receiving and Framed! as well. You'll just have to put up with it unless you choose to play on Expert.:erg:

As far as I remember red hints don't appear at Framed!, only at Running Interference and Shipping...and Receiving.

So, you're memory's probably correct if you never, or hardly ever, played Framed! on Normal.

Simple question yes. And it can be done but you'll have to edit the PLAYHINT.str file and remove the bulk of the text.

Open the RES folder and find strings.crf Back that file up somewhere so you can put it back later if you choose.

strings.crf is really just a zip folder so rename it strings.zip and extract.

In the english folder you'll find playhint.str . Open with Notepad and delete everything under the following and save.

// Any onscreen hinty stuff would go here.
NewGoal: "New Objectives"
DoneGoal: "Objective Complete"
FoundSecret: "Found Secret!"

Get rid of the strings.zip folder and zip up the extracted folder and then rename that string.crf . You're now ready to go and won't get anymore prompts except for the three you left in there.
