A Vampyre Story is the creation of Bill Tiller and his studio Autumn Moon Entertainment. A former employee of Lucas Arts, Tiller won himself a place in the hearts of adventure fans through his work on titles such as Steven Spielberg's "The Dig," the whip-cracking "Indiana Jones," and the legendary "The Curse of Monkey Island." The game tells the tale of the beautiful, gifted opera singer Mona De Lafitte, whose life is brought to an abrupt end by a vampire baron named Shrowdy Von Kiefer. Henceforth, she is doomed to a miserable existence as a creature of the night in Von Kiefer's gloomy castle. Confronted with her seemingly hopeless fate, she decides to run away and try to fulfil her dream of singing at the Paris Opera. Accompanied by her mischievous bat Froderick, Mona must face a number of challenges in her odyssey and learn not only to accept her vampire nature, but also to use her newly acquired vampiric abilities to her advantage.

I can't say that I've followed the development of this game very closely by any means but taking into consideration how rare 2d adventure games are these days, and my love for old school adventure games, this release has definitely piqued my interest. There was some talk about A Vampyre Story several months ago on this forum and I am wondering if any of you that discussed the game have gone out and purchased this one yet. It appears to have mainly received positive reviews and a fair number of mixed ones as well.

A little too cartoonish for me and I missed out on Monkey Island so there's no nostalgia factor to pull me in.

The art is beautiful, but it was never the art that attracted me to adventure games.
Still, the game seems to have been well received. I wonder if my friendly local game store will have a copy...

What about Grim Fandango? Sam & Max? Fate of Atlantis?

Missed 'em all, sadly. :(

You poor man. Suddenly more things become clear.

I was pretty poor by most standards and up until around 1999 I was very much a console kid, minus whatever I convinced my mom to spend $5 on shareware on. I think Jazz Jackrabbit was the first full game we ever bought, in 1996. I missed out on nearly every 90s PC game that wasn't an FPS or Fallout 1.
No, my 90s gaming history is pretty much limited to the few console games I had; hell, a lot of my favourite SNES/Genesis games I discovered through emulation.

Dude, it's not too late. Grim Fandango may not be as pretty as it used to be, but everything else about it is still amazing. Play it.

Just got the demo for this a couple of weeks ago, have yet to fully go through it. It looks good, something for me to do today.
