i was wondering if anyone was working on a way to turn garrett into someone else, ie: a hammerite or city watch guard, in thief 3.

It sounds as if Garrett would be a spy/assassin like in Hitman or possible Commandos.

There might be a way, something to do with skins. I never messed with that stuff though so I wouldn't be the one to ask.

You would need to be able to swap in a new model. Skinning the current Garrett model would look horendous since it's modeled to look like Garrett.

There's only two skins for Garrett in TDS, the regular and the "stitch mode" Garrett where he's transparent. I guess the stitch mode was going to be used in the Cradle.

I'm still learning how to properly physique the characters, as you can see some stray vertices on the feet and side. But using (
http://home.ripway.com/2005-4/295136/t3import.zip) Shockeye's milkshape t3 importer, and cannonfodder's smd importer for max, you can import skeletal meshes and the bones!
I haven't had the time to do any more tweaking. Someone actually sent me another Garrett model:
If I have time over the summer, I try to get that model into the game.

Oh I forgot about third person view. I was just picturing the arms being changed.

If you're playing in 1st person view only (As in TMP) then you could just ignore 3rd person view, then reskinning would be a more viable option.
Anyway, if you forgot that 3rd person view existed, you're hardly going to miss it! ;)
