I never preferred PGR to Forza either but it was still one of best, most sophisticated arcade driving games around. It struck an excellent balance between fun-to-drive and believable-to-drive; I always got the sense that the studio was more than capable of making a sim game, they just didn't want to. That, and their walk-around-your-garage feature should've become a staple in all car-collecting games.

The PGR racing games were ok, but for me, Forza 3 blows them straight out the water.
Comparing a simulation game to an arcadey one is stupid. What's next, judging Painkiller against Operation Flashpoint?

It's not stupid at all, for me, Forza 3 is so much more fun to drive in simulation mode than PGR is full stop.

I was planning on posting that message on the 15th regardless. A Simulation and an arcadey game are apples and oranges objectively, debating over the semantics until the cows come home won't change that fact. An unfair comparison is an unfair comparison.

I'll explain why I think in this case it's not such a strange comparison as it may appear.
Although PGR features the whole "kudos" points thing, the fact is you can just play it as a racing game and even turn on manual gears. Forza lets you turn off damage, and can even nanny you more than PGR does, (Forza's auto braking is particularly lol). When played with similar options turned on, and not in bat shit crazy 'rack up the powerslides' mode, they can feel very similar when out on the track - but Forza in arcadey mode just feels much more satisfying than PGR (although PGR's weather effects are uber).
If I had been comparing Forza to Burnout Paradise then yes, that's stupid. Challenges and Kudos points aside, Forza is able to do a better job of being an arcade racer than PGR does, should you so wish.
