I have been wading through reams of paperwork trying to find the tutorial on how to add textures to dromed so that they have the corresponding sounds, i.e walking on wood sounds like walking on wood..stone=stone etc....all my textures are silent when walked upon.
See, long periods of staying away from dromed are detrimental to your health...I have a bottle of blue smarties and I swear to God I am going to use them...:laff:

Open up the object hierarchy. Instead of object archetypes, select textures.
Your textures should show up there, just drag them into the proper place. I.E., metal, stone, wood, etc.
Edit: If they're not there, you may have to find them under missing and delete them. Then re-add them in the command window and they should show up.

Another approach is to use the texture editor to edit the archetype and add the appropriate material metaprop to the texture. I've taken to doing that as easier for me.

Ah..where is the texture editor please.

Go to Editors->Object Hierarchy and from the Show Tree drop down menu, select the "Textures" option. Your textures should show up under a "Missing" tab if they are in the fam folder of your Thief 2 install.

Assuming that you are using New Dark, Alt-t OR F7 OR Editors > Texture Palette will bring up the texture palette. You can then right-click on a texture and get a menu of options. Once you have loaded the texture to the palette, select Edit Archetype... from that right-click menu, and add the material metaprop to the texture.

Thanks Larry..I have started a clean installation of DromEd as I found that all my electric lights had inherited torch flame links and last night I spent an hour and a half adding my custom texture families to the fam folder, then I went in to the object hierarchy selected textures after of course loading a family and then dragged all the individual custom textures into the correct categories, save the gamesys exited, reopened DromEd loaded the gamesys and found that they had all gone...still in fam but not in the hierarchy...
I will try this easier looking method of yours..fingers crossed.:D
That seems to have worked on the few textures that I have applied although on restarting of Dromed when I set gamesys using the drop down box it loaded the gamesys but there was a line in the mono box which said failed to load palette interface/synch???

That error is always there, you can ignore it. And also if you save your mission as a .cow, you needn't worry about a separate .gam file or having to load it. You just have to do these steps when you're to the point of needing the separate .mis and .gam for putting into the ZIP to release to testers or the world:
* Save the .gam
* Use the set_gamesys command to set the gamesys to the filename you used in step 1
* Save the .mis
That's it.

That's great...I manually entered the gamesys using the old method of typing it in and its working fine...However, I think that I have lost my huge mostly finished part 2 map because that ones gamesys has inherited the torch links and applied them to all the electric lights and it looks like I am going to have to start over God help me..ah well such is the life of Dromed.

Earlier save?
Do save as .cow, and save often.
