Oh, damn. I forgot about traps!
I must admit though, the application will turn out limited. Who's going to completely wire his entire manor with traps except for the vault?
I think the only place where traps would be found in great numbers would be underground tombs or something, and you shouldn't have too many of those levels.
But let's see, some good traps might be:
opening a half-open door and having a bucket of water fall on your head
stepping on a rake and having it smash into your face
opening a door and attempting to walk through, only to walk face-first into a wall of bricks
stepping on a pressure plate and having to evade the huge boulder that comes rolling in your direction
pressing a button or pulling a lever expecting a door to open, but instead a panel in the wall opens up and a boxing glove punches you in the face

I would like to remove the identifiable footfalls. It was fun, but getting old. How the hell do they know an intruder's footsteps from someone else's. Perhaps it can be altered to hearing footsteps makes the AI seek out who's there, regardless of source.

You wouldn't know the difference between one person's footwear over another, or if there's an additional person in your midst adding their footfalls, or think nothing of footfalls where no one should be, having been in the place long enough to know the patterns?

I've heard this come up before, and it seems many are confused about this. Adding to what jtr7 has just said, many guards are trained to walk with a certain rhythm and pattern in order to identify someone other than themselves. Hence the in-game female guard line, "must have been some rookie"...meaning that what she heard was probably a new guard who hasn't gotten down the patrol training yet.
