I realize I'm a complete dumbass :nono: and stuff for not f**king checking on this when I started my site, or whenever i decided to put up the images... But, I was wondering if its legal to put thief copyrighted images up on the website. I just recently removed the links on my website to the images so the backgrounds should be white. I don't want to get sued.... I've been quite fortunate however, because I had the stuff on there for like 2 years or more. I'm surprised nobody mentioned to me when i told them about my site(I shared it among ttlg members) that Im violating copyright laws. (If that IS the case) I would simply ask eidos if it was ok to put official thief content on my website, but I went to their website and did not see an e-mail link. I'd like to e-mail them, not call them.
Again, I apologize to all for putting copyrighted images on my website, and most importantly, Eidos and LGS (yea I'm aware they are no longer in business, but im referring to the creators of thief, im sure they wouldnt want all their content being given out on the net)
I have avoided plagiarism though, because if you've been to my website, you should have noticed my red text notes stating i do not claim rights to the images.

And the point of this thread was....?
(Jesus man, at least do it for an active site if anything.)

What do you mean active? My site is still up.
Anyhow, the point was to make sure if i was right in saying that what i did was in violation of copyright stuff.. I was asking. If you bothered to read word for word what i wrote, you'd see that. Also, if anyone knows the eidos e-mail address, send me it please.

No one's going to care. Seriously. It'd be different if that was a massive and sprawling corporate website, it'd be different if your page said HAY GUYS LOOK AT ALL THE COOL PICTURES I DREW and then showed a load of copyrighted stuff, and it'd be different if you were selling the images.
Don't get all worried about it, seriously no one's going to care a bit. If you're determined to feel weird about it, then slap some tiny text saying something to the effect of "images and likenesses from the Thief series are copyright Eidos LLC" or something.

Especially considing the fact that we've all downloaded/uploaded the Deadly Shadows soundtrack and Eidos hasn't so much as cleared its throat at us.

(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use) Fair use. But yeah, Eidos frankly won't care, and I have no intent of being harsh with this, but your site probably doesn't get enough traffic as it is to raise any eyebrows. Under the radar, so to say.
Maybe it's more proper to ask such questions in website boards (yeah, it's Thief-related, but most taffers will see this as spam, being non-webmasters), by the way.
Fair use is a foggy area, but so long as you don't take personal credit or profit but include copyright info (citing Eidos as the holder, obviously), you're fine.
Things you already know, but just thought I'd throw out that "fair use" phrase.
