An Idea I have is to make four big 64x128x128 air brushes, attach them together and build each section of the city mission in each of them.

Not a good idea. But sometimes one has to learn the hard way.

I've built all my FMs with method 2, since the carving metod is just beyond my skills, I feel very uncomfortable with it. Now I'm working on an FM based on The Cahedral OM, built with method 1, and it's a nightmare for me to modify the architecture.
On the other hand LG developers used both approaches. If you dissect Bafford's manor you will see a lego construction. :D
I would say, build the way which is more comfortable for you.

Well I've tried Method 1 many times in the past and it's always failed me and I find it is too hard to carve out the solid, so now I'm trying method 2 and it is pretty easy for me because I think it is so much simpler to just create a bunch of solid brushes and then add architecture to them(ledges, window frames, rooftops, facades, etc.) and I love it so I think I'll just be sticking to method 2 for a while now so I can get more experience to become more better at building city missions and I really can't stand method 1 because it is just too much.:cheeky:

Method 1 and method 2 aren't official names. In the first post scarykitties mentioned using a big air brush with solid brush buildings (method 1), or carving streets with air brushes (method 2).
Since it boils down to 'how you make the main shape of your buildings', I think it's more descriptive to say air or solid.

Well here is what I've got done so far
Inline Image:
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/245/e/8/dump000_by_nintendofan2013-d6kt8qm.png it's looking pretty well and it is really simple to build a city mission by making a large air brush and filling it with solids to make a city area. Also if you're wondering what it is like to add sounds(room brushes) It is really simple and easy and you don't have to create as many as you would have to making the level the other way(Air brushes filling in solid)

I think ultimately the difficulty of adding roombrushes is linked more to how complex and squished together everything is, rather than using one building method versus another.

Every mission I have made started with a large air brush and was filled with solid brushes except for one (there was almost no outside access) so it didn't give me any problems. :)

Looking good there, Sneaky Guy101! And it ought to be a lot easier than it used to be, without the old polygon and brush limits...

Thanks;) Yeah NewDark has made the Level editing way better for me. I always remember it being kinda crappy and always crashing and now it is so much better. i started out in Dromed back in October 2011 so I have quite some experience with the whole thing;)
