The combat demo certainly rewards specialisation and there is always the Falloutesque possibility of a bad crit. How hard it is depends rather on character build and experience with the system, I'd say.
From what I've seen and read the purpose is more being a combat beta than a demo per se, to give an idea of the combat but also to give the developers balance and feedback info, and check for technical issues.

Decadence means marked by decay or indulgence, it doesn't specifically connote food.
You're in US and you never heard of decadent being used to describe food, like cakes?

Rarely. Along the same lines as referring to a car as 'sporty'. If I heard someone talk about sports I wouldn't ask if it has to deal with cars.

Unless you're a redneck, or obsessed with sports of all sorts, that shit is nearly universally referred to by the genericized term NASCAR.

Neither a redneck, nor a sports fan. But it is a sport and it involves cars.
Maybe IMSA GT or F1 is more resonant?

Well in either case catbarf clearly has never seen "decadent chocolate" as a restaurant menu item. I've only ever seen "decadence" referring to decay once outside of the game this thread's about, and that was the HL2 mod nobody played. Every other usage of the word refers to indulgence or food.
And anyway it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what someone means when they call a car 'sporty.'
