One can hope, but, we've done it before. Our hopes are dashed. I'm still glad to see the will have the same writer and executive producer as the original game, we'll see what happens. I enjoyed the first Alice.

I'm glad this topic got its own thread, I think it deserves it. Honestly, when I first saw the news, I thought it was just one of those unfounded rumors. I was quite surprised to see that it was actually confirmed by the parties involved. While I am a fan of the first game, I'm even in the middle of a playthrough at the moment, I'm not sure the game should have a sequel. I'm not sure how they could continue the story without it being completely contrived Especially given the way the first game ended: with Alice finally coming to terms with her guilt over the death of her parents and leaving the asylum.
EDIT: My pessimistic side says that the chances of this game being a worthy successor to the first is pretty slim. Also, why greenlight a sequel now? It has been around 8 years since the last game.

Simple. Because of the Disney/Burton/Depp movie that's in development right now. (Which is apparently going to be live action / cgi / stopmotion all in one.) This is to capitalize on that. I am sure all the publishers will be producing new editions of the stories and all sorts of other tie-in junk as well. When the content is public domain, and a big studio does a movie about it, anything goes.

The most important thing I'm hoping for in this sequel is a retention of the atmosphere which oozed with such beautiful malevolence out of the first game.
Secondly, the longevity needs to be addressed.
And thirdly, the difficulty. Delightful as she was, Alice was just a little bit too far over into point and shoot territory. Come on Alice, don't be a thicko this time.

It looks promising and I really loved the first Alice game. I'm eager to see how it will turn out gameplay-wise. Can't wait to see a trailer(when they eventually make one).I hope they retain the great atmosphere and the twistedness of the original(Chesher cat was awesome).

American McGee is the fucking dry hump of the gaming world IMO. One good performance (Alice) followed by abortions like Scrapland and Grimm? Oh my god- who the fuck plays Grimm? Have you spent even ten minutes with this shit? No offense if you like his stuff, but c'mon. My 6 year old has better game ideas than this, and could likely execute them better as well.
A Burton/Elfson Alice movie would rule though. :thumb:

Thing about Alice is that it looks and sounds amazing but is totally boring to actually play. I've tried to replay it a few times but I think all I want is to watch someone else do it.

Amercian McGee is a complete hack who does nothing but high-concept bullshit. 'Alice', art direction and sound/music aside, sucked and his subsequent games have seem to be, I've only played 'Scrapland' and one of the Grimm's, even worse.
That all said the concept art looks ace and I don't actually want him to fail since a great game using 'Alice In Wonderland' as source material would be welcome. I just don't hold out much hope.
