Alice... 2? Is that you? - by Digital Nightfall

Scrapland impressed the hell out of me for the graphics and depth back in the day. It was really complicated with lots to do (or so I recall). But I couldn't even get through the demo because the friggin dialogue and voice acting was aimed somewhere around the Telly Tubbies demographic. It was unbelievably annoying.

That's what killed it for me too, Muz. I bought it and played 3 hours and threw it in a box. I even bought hunk of shit Bad Day LA on good faith, I was actually excited that I found it new for $20... Fuck that game. Biggest piece of crap ever.

bad day LA was really bad, never tried scrapland since the demo crashed my pc back then.

+ Great graphics, even years after the game was released!
+ Creative levels + Graphics!
+ Some of the most fluid combat this side of third person gaming, minus the acrobatic rolls we take for granted.
+ Bosses were neat
- No freedom to explore
- I don't care what anyone says, American McGee /= Lewis Carroll in the dialogue dept.
I found it very inspiring! Can't wait for the second.
Needs magic size-shifting mushrooms, though! Would be cool to have puzzles based on physX, depending on what size you are you can squeeze into small spaces, or move larger objects if you become a giant Alice, so on!

When I first saw some of the trailers, most of them were cut-scenes and there was no real way to tell what the gameplay was like.
I watched the video your link provided and at first it looked a little bit like the Queen's garden from the first game except that had a night time look to it, whereas this one looks like the battle area is during daylight.
I was skeptical towards the beginning of this video because of the similarity to the first game and had wondered if it was not just the first game rehashed. I watched all the way through and became more impressed as the recorded battle took place.
I really enjoyed the first game; weapons seem to be upgraded in this one, such as the cranking tart machine canon or something of that nature, but in many ways it looks just like the last one.
Still that being said, given the chance, I will obtain it, simply because of how much I liked the first one. The first one showed very efficient use of an older and more limited tech, during a time in history when game engines were starting to get far better than they were previously.
American McGee's Alice game levels are still very pretty to look at. I hope this one will have that quality also.
Am I expecting too much from the gaming tech of today?
As a rule, I generally do not like 3rd person games, but Alice was one of the very few exceptions to my usual tastes in gaming.

I think this weapon might be a pepper mill.

That link says that console pre-orderers only get the soundtrack when they do business with Gamestop and such.

The first link went to the wrong article, I've fixed it now.
