You're still not getting the point. What ever happened to games being released on their own terms, not being attached to something like steam, gamespy, whatever... It's the options. Steam AND a box copy that doesn't require steam out of the box is how it should be. Not steam in both cases. Again, steam is great.. and you've made your point about it being the best DRM service. I just don't think we should have steam shoved down our throats, like anything else. But, that's how it is. Am I supposed to just accept it? NO. I will in a sense because I have no power, but at the same time, I can converse and complain about it as much as I see fit. Anyway, we should stop derailing the thread. This has been discussed already in another thread.
@Subjective Effect:
To use the disc you have to press 3 and then press Left Alt. Or is that what you tried to do?

Ok, someone explain to me
exactly how you use the spear or the disc as the Predator.
I had both of them, I was in Alien vision, had an Alien down the corridor, tried selecting them and firing and I just flailed my stupid claws and waited for the inevitable melee face off. GG on letting us know how to play Rebellion. WTF have you made the controls even more obscure than in the original?
Use secondary attack (that's usually middle mouse button).

I'll say it again, suck it up. It's one of the fairest DRM solutions (requiring online activation) out there and the benefits far outweigh the pits. Think of the alternatives:- most GfWL titles offers 15 unrevokable activations (when you run out you have to deal with Microsoft support to get a new key), and if you don't live in one of (
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/countries.htm) 26 countries supported by the Live service, the Multiplayer facilities of your game likely won't work and you may not be able to buy DLC. That's right, roughly 168 countries aren't supported by neither Xbox nor PC variants of Live.
.
Haha, better than GfWL probably beats even "better humanitarian than Genghis Khan" as the absolute definition of Damning with Faint Praise.

That doesn't negate Eva's overall point.
catbarf on 8/2/2010 at 02:04
Which of course doesn't negate sNeaksie's point either. I personally like Steam, but don't like the idea of it being the only option.

Except nobody's actually arguing that.

It is not a matter of which "middleware"is the best here. Yes, steam is great, that's not the point. The point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't NEED steam for a retail game.

I guess it is more the principle (ya know, lookin' out for those that don't care for steam, and what not)
hmmm, yes, i see your point dethtoll, totally different from:

since release of the demo I haven't been able to join any multiplayer game at all. stupid matchmaking just sits there for 5minutes, says nothing and then goes back to the menue. Even L4D's matchmaking does turn up with a game now and then or at least an australian server with 400ping, but this........way to scare a customer. and the update they applied changed nothing for me.

What the fuck are you on about? Nobody in this thread (or possibly the entire internet) has ever argued for Steam being the only option, you twit. Do you have a pathological need to disagree with me, is that why you're grasping at straws here? catbarf and sneaksie share the same views regarding Steam, hooray, what's your fucking point?
