Hopefully your aim is a bit better, at least.

Nowhere near the same league, but as a fellow foodiphile I'm taking my wife (
http://www.isisbrasserie.com.au/) to this place for her 25th birthday on Sunday. :D It's one of the better restaurants in Brisbane/Qld, so I guess we'll see... we're considering the degustation menu with matched wines.
And I am seriously planning to make Alinea part of any trip to the States.

I'm saying this because I'm hungry, and I know I'll come to regret my words later...BUT...having food served to me in such small portions wouldn't do much of anything cept piss me off.
A piece of bacon? A piece of bacon? I don't care how good it is, or how the sling signifies some post modern existentialist bullshit. I want at least 5 pieces of bacon, sir. Wait. Caramel? On the bacon? OH HELL! WHY NOT? POUR IT RIGHT ON!
That said, I don't think you go to a place like Alinea for a hearty meal. It's the culinary equivalent of a good movie. You're going for the experience. And that's what I'm missing right now, because I haven't had a good meal all day.
I want a McRib.

I remember reading this thread the first time - and I'm no less jealous now than I was then.

it seems like "small portions" but when you're getting 25+ of them, that shit adds up. I was STUFFED after that meal.

That was almost 5 years ago, and I haven't made it back since, and don't think it's on the horizon until at least next year.
I'm almost just as jealous.
