There's no reason why most arrows obey the laws of gravity but a couple of them are magically self-propelled (hey, that's the exact reason!). Predicting the arc of flight is part of the fun and skill of using the bow!
I would like to argue in favour of changing fire and gas arrows to work the same way as any other. Firing a gas arrow from street level, through a high open window, and have it land right in the centre of the room, knocking out anybody inside would be a most satisfying move. Currently, you'd only be able to hit the ceiling, or top of the window frame if you're standing beneath the window level. Maybe you hear a guard on the other side of the wall, you fire a gas arrow over it, wait tentatively as it slowly arcs over the top, then *cough, splutter, collapse* Yes! Got him.

I see what you mean and that would be cool, but these arrows aren't exactly light...well there is an argument for the gas arrow being lighter than not, but I still think the fire should be more like a rocket (though with a shorter range such as it has a slight arc that becomes more and more pronounced upon after a certain distance...otherwise this would become a rather ridiculous exploit in the game if there is a long sight range).

I kind of agree - arcing arrows adds skill and opens up new possibilities. However, just because of the name, I'd like it if gas arrows didn't arc ;P. But also, because in your example, hitting the ceiling or the window frame should be fine; the gas should disperse enough that just getting it in the room is the aim. I wonder why fire arrows don't arc? Water arrows don't (and neither do moss, as far as I recall).

It's always driven me a little nuts that when I shoot a gas or fire arrow I have to automatically aim low since the arrow's path rises instead of arcing and gravity taking over. I agree that I'd like to see all the arrows arc instead of seeing some of them defying gravity (okay, well, virtual gravity :P). More challenging indeed.

I'd love to see some new arrows. the arrow combinations and tools to turn water arrows into ice arrows was such a good idea. those kind of things would be great. I am not fussed with changing the existing arrows to much

It would be great if you can release the string at any point too. Obviously a bit useless with broadheads, but for example if your running towards an open window, you might want to drop a moss arrow through on route without having to stop and aim down.

Can't you do this already? Or did you have to jump, or something, to interrupt it. I remember being able to exploit it so you could actually outrun your fire arrows, or leave them suspended in mid-air because there was no force behind them.

Fire Arrows should arc, slowly as (I assume) the fire somewhat propels them, Gas Arrows should not, as they are pure air sinking just wouldn't make sense.

I do believe it depends on the gas inside the arrow as some gases are heavier than the atmospheric mixture of oxygen and nitrogen and some are lighter, such as helium.
Also, I've always understood the firearrow to rise due to the fact that heat rises and if the arrow was made out of a light material, well, you get my point.

Gas and Fire Arrows should harmlessly float in place when fired.
