Yes, all arrows should behave like arrows. I remember that the flat trajectory was a gameplay concession to eliminate the frustration of wasted fire and gas arrows. It's kind of jarring - I even wasted a few by aiming them normally, because it's the natural thing to do with bow and arrows (and all the other arrows arc). It's an arbitrary discrepancy that sticks out like a sore thumb.
All of them are elemental crystals attached as heads to regular arrow shafts and while the crystals may have different properties, the rest of the arrow does not.

Which in essence comes down to RTFM you are told that the Fire and Gas arrows GO EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE AIMMED. They don't "rise" or fall. They go line of sight.
So, Read the Fucking Manual. :ebil:

It would be cool if you can make a fire arrow from regular arrow by igniting
from in a fireplace. And water arrow by putting a regular arrow in water.About the thread I prefer the gas arrows to be floating and fire arrows to be like normal arrows

Yeah but like in Dark Messiah one that only burns and does not explode...
I think the explosive fire arrow and gas arrow should not have arcs - these are magic weapons and ought to behave differently.

...but not water or moss arrows?
Gotta say I much preferred the distinct arc in Thief 1 and 2. I've never fired a bow, Deadly Shadows' arrow behaviour may well have been more realistic, but it wasn't as fun or as satisfying.

TDS bashing is getting more incomprehensible every day. :weird:
I'd vote for a better arching system in Thief IV in general (I wrote that somewhen before), featuring a system to simulate instinctive aiming instead of the ridiculous rectangle sight. After all the bow is one of the main weapons and thus deserves a more sophisticated implementation. There is AFAIK a bow without sight in a N64 Zelda game but I haven't seen anything like that on a computer yet.

Yeah but not water and moss arrows - earth and water are the elemental counterparts to air and fire, they should behave differently. Additionally air and fire don't seem to have a weight, whereas water and earth definitely got some --> arcing
(Yeah I know that in reality air has weight...bla bla bla, but we are not in reality in Thief)

But the reality of Thief contains elemental crystals of about the same appearance and size.

And obviously non-identical physical properties - so why change it?

In my humble opinion... as long as they're stuck on an arrow shaft their effects will be limited to what different arrow head weights can do...and none of that can avoid ballistics. Plus, I would not want to be Garrett if a gas or fire crystall starts its afterburner.
