Are PS3 games capped at 30FPS like 360 games? Because if so, 1280x720 with a minimum of AA at 30FPS would make the PS3 a complete ripoff compared to a similarly-priced PC.

360 games are not capped at 30 fps. The recently-announced Forza 3 will run at 60fps, for example. I think CoD 4 runs at 60fps on the 360 as well.

David is correct.
But Sony dictates that PS3 games must use v-sync, which is not the case with the 360. So 360 versions of multi-platform games typically have better framerate, but some are known to suffer from screen tearing.

Really? I believe you, but are there many games that play at 60FPS? All the ones I've seen have been 30FPS.

Forza 2 definitely runs at 60fps.

Which version of the ps3 is it, the european or the other, in the european version the video is mainly done by software, while in the other version eg usa and japan its done via the hardware. The european versions been buggered by the eec who like to bugger stuff they dont understand making a shitter world for all those living in the eec.

What on Earth are flapping on about it? I think you might be confused by how PS2 backwards compatibility was implemented in the various early different global models (which is entirely irrelevant now, since the removal of PS2 back compat in later models).
Else please explain this again in clearer words, with links to back up your claims.

There's were 2 version of the original ps3, the machine comes with 8 cores, the european version has some of this written as software not hardware and not anything to do with backward compatability with ps2 games (something to do with the maximum number of cores allowed within a system in the european union is 4, any higher and you're breaking some strange law), the version sold in the usa and japan uses hardware to run games, while the european version uses mainly software to run games. So the usa and japan versions of the console out perform the european version by about 400%. The european Union have suppressed this information, as they don't want people to know about this, so there's no link to back this up.
The european parliment make up some stupid rules, and we are supposed to follow them, but non of them get voted in, you get to be a european mp by paying some one a lot of money.

Er, well, that's entirely ridiculous. There are too many holes in the logic to talk about, so I won't. I'm just going to say it again: that, my dear sir, is entirely ridiculous. Try again.

sounds like someone is mixing up stuff they heard about ps3 backward compatibility and conspiracy theories
