Is T2X a mod or a full blown pay-for-it expantion?
I'd say that it's a full blown expansion. Or more of a separate game based in the same universe, as it has a different main character.
In any case, it's free and it's very good. Enjoy!

It's a mod, to the extent you need Thief 2 to run it (as far as I know), but it's also about 13 missions long as a complete story arc with a new lead character, set in and around the events of TMA, so there's a little crossover with the stories.

"Expansion" to me is misleading, because it usually means commercial or official. T2X is completley fan created. Also all that stuff the guys above me said.

I can see how my form of speech may seem role play, but it is not. I attempt to type correctly, if possible. Yes, it is true that LOTROSource is much more role play oriented, being Tolkien. However, I think that, regardless of how little histories or archives exist for Thief, it may be possible to role play for it, though it does depend on the environment. I think it is quite possible, but I also agree with you saying that it is unorthodox in such a locale. More than role play, I seek for "lore", such as this Keeper Theses I keep hearing about, or the extensive knowledge of maps people seem to have.

I, for one, am honored to have a Metalunan on these forums.

The Thief universe isn't so conducive to the role-play style. There are really only a couple people to be and they don't have the interactions that work within the Thief world. Benny, a keeper, and the big G himself. Since G is a complete loner and a sarcastic intelligent smart-ass law-breaker, you won't find him hanging around the guard Benny. Since he quit the keepers and pretty much hates them, you won't find him hanging out with them either. It has enough back history but isn't the kind of world that works. Imagine trying to make any other stealth game, like Splinter Cell rpg. It just doesn't come out right.

I get that.
His role, though slighly unique, cannot be pictured in any other way, personally.

I'm behind the moon?
Are their any history or resource sites, perhaps a compilation of Hammerite/Pagan/Keeper exerpts? I have noticed many people talking about "what we know" about certain "groups" (for lack of a better word) that I have never even heard of.

P.S. - I do understand that I have barged in with little introduction, and I apologize. I often have the habit of asking for things of acquaintences. I also understand that me, a stranger, asking for assistance for people who do not know or respect me, expresses negatively on the quality of my person or the facet of my character. Thusly I feel I require an introduction:
My name is Taigen Jalisal, Tai for short. This is my first visit to a T: DS or Thief forum, but I do have forum experience from (
www.lotrosource.com/forums). I am deeply moved by Tolkien's works, and come from a family of fiction novelists, currently unpublished. My family is also extremely sarcasm oriented, in that, their humor is especially dry and crude, so I may apologize for any offenses that may occur when I become more comfortable with my surroundings. As I said, my family does write, and I see myself as the most grammatically correct of the big "3" of us, my father being the most fictionally evolved. My mother works as a chart auditor for a hospital, and my father a data management worker for GM using Oracle; He calls himself "The Architect" (reference to "The Matrix"). I try my best to check the forums often, and I hope to make many friends and few enemies.
