This is god's vengeance on me for all those l33t-speakers I've devoured over the years, isn't it?
Taigen Jalisal on 21/6/2006 at 06:01
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to believe.
Perhaps I may be white-hot retribution, but since lightning can't even strike twice in the same place, I highly doubt that is possible. Are you saying God's vengeance is nigh upon you for you cannot crush me as easily as a l33t speaker?

Welcome to the forums :) Some advice in all friendliness, it's not worth it to get piqued at Zylonbane.
Anyway as regards series lore - there's some material at www.thief-thecircle.com but my recommendation is to just pick up the first two games and play them through. You'll get a much better appreciation for the subtleties of the storytelling that way, you won't get things spoiled, and as you sound like a fairly thorough chap you should emerge from the other end knowing as much about the story as we do.

ZB go easy on him, he's 14 (and I don't care to hear what you were like when you were 14). He actually seems pretty decent and non-l33tish to me
ZylonBane on 21/6/2006 at 14:06
Oh he definitely seems decent enough. It's just that his affected mannerisms are like a rake on a blackboard to me. I've been trying to decide exactly which little-lord-fauntleroyesque fop he reminds me when he posts like that (without the slightest trace of irony), and after much deliberation have realized it's Pip, the South Park character.
Greetings, Pip.

Greetings, Pip.
I'm not sure if I look forward to or fear that this will lead to Roshambo between ZB and Tai.

Really? I was thinking more Garfield Thelonius Remington the Third from Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura, pity. My mannerisms are like a "rake on a blackboard" to you? Wonderful simile, but a bit trite for your age, don't you think?
Anyhow, thank you kindly Vigil, for you timely answer to my question. I will indeed take your advice, and hope I will be permitted to turn to you if I have other questions afterwards.

Don't give me hard time, guys, but what's l33t ? (yes, I have searched...well, a bit).
Oh, and 'rake on a blackboard' is a perfectly good simile: it gets the point across vividly. I tried to think of a better one, and couldn't. Then I realised that was a REALLY GOOD THING, because I don't want anyone thinking I'm pretentious.
By the way Tai, watch your grammar, and your back.:D
