New interview up on the remake. Which they've been at since 2006, apparently. I know, I really need to catch up on gaming news.
The interview's at (

I was more interested in the trailer, though, which sports some rather lovely graphics, interesting gameplay, and the most complicated-looking inventory screen I've seen yet:

There are a lot of promises about interactivity, and the trailer shows off some of it - potentially awesome stuff. If the game devs can live up to their word, this looks like it could be one to watch.

It's not a remake, though crossed swords on the wall and fire are important elements in puzzles of the original.
But that aside, indeed, it looks nice. I hope they get the tension right.
Atari again has setup one of their all-flash sites:

The episodic structure is something that was integral to the game design and ... we wanted to shake things up a bit and approach the video gaming medium from a new direction in terms of how the game is presented.
blabla ... well, we noticed that other companies started with tis, so of course we had to do it as well.

Secondly we wanted to adapt the game to the tastes of today's gaming audience, who consume lots of different popular media, not just games, and have a limited amount of time to do it.
blabla... we though it would be a good idea to deliver less game for the same price and thus prolonge the time to collect money.

Puzzles play a role in the game, and there's lots of situations that require a bit of thought to get through, but not too much.
Translation: we didn't want the player to be confronted with something that requires thinking, because we know that every player required to think is a player lost and thus money is lost.

Don't jump to conclusions as soon as you read the word 'episode'.
The game won't be sold as separate episodes. But rather as a 'complete season box'.
The game consists of separate chapters that are presented like episodes of a tv show: Each episode starts with a small summary of whats going on ("Previously on [insert TV show here]"), and ends with a teaser ("Next week on [insert TV show here]"). This, I assume to make it more accessible to those of us who don't have long stretches of time available to play games.

Agreed. The original is one of my favorite horror-themed games, but outside of that, the series hasn't done much for me. I will be paying attention to this one, however, based on the strength of that video.
Thankfully, this game at least tries to explain how the heck Carnby can be youthful in a modern setting, when he was kicking zombies and solving puzzles back in the 1920s.

yeah, lol on his age!. I liked the original, but I also had fun w/AitD:The New Nightmare on Dreamcast. Good graphics and decent RE style gameplay. )Which ripped off AitD :)

We will see. I wouldn't be surprised though if they suddenly released some episodes first.
Sorry that I'm not too excited about new games anymore. They all usually tell you what new stuff they want to implement, and in the end they turn into average games at best, with a lot of bugs and early release. And the physics puzzle look nice, but they are not really new. In the trailer all you can see is a lot of bashing in with objects, which is not really THAT innovative. Combined with their statement that they don't want to require the player to think to much, I can easily see where the "puzzles" are heading.

Looks a bit too much like a faceless modern horror flick (Complete with laser sighted guns and big explosions) than the creepy Lovecraft inspired originals. It's pretty, sure, but I'm not convinced on the scare factor, though.
Shame we can't have more games like CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth when it comes to horror. :erg:

GOD, don't I know...I have been wondering if we'll EVER get another one that can even hold a candle to it.
