boring. still preordered. I keep waiting for the RPG depth they talk about and I guess it will reveal itself only during playing and not in some action-oriented trailers for a game that looks like a boring tps. I give Obsidian the benefit of doubt and support them with my money. But damn, they sure make it hard for me to develop any hype for this game.

Get it from Gamersgate then if you're keen on the DD route (thought you had it preordered from MA though?) as it's still only $50 there- and you still get Space Siege if you're keen on a spot of masochism.

*Sigh* Another publisher shafts Australasia when it comes to Steam pricing, $70 USD.
Steam used to be a relatively cheaper way to purchase games in Australia. Often top games were more than 50% cheaper than what you would expect to pay at retail. I noticed that all of this changed a short time after the Steam Xmas sale, where a number of new games were being sold at prices $20 higher than what I had ever seen them before: Dragon Age, L4D2, Modern Warfare, Borderlands etc.
While Gabe Newell might claim that (
http://www.edge-online.com/features/valve-are-games-too-expensive) PC games are too expensive, I surmise that Valve have been experimenting with how much consumers are prepared to pay for games via steam, and it would seem that many consumers are in fact willing to pay the higher prices.

I do have it on pre-order from Mighty Ape, but it's a direct deposit one (where I haven't paid yet) as I always like to keep my options open. If a better deal comes along, I can always cancel the order.

Dude, Valve doesn't set the prices, the publishers do. I.e. the jacked up prices in Australasia are likely because of some dick bag middleman like EB Australia or a publisher's local distributor complaining to the publisher. The NZD (and likely the AUD too) have been relatively high against the USD, so it often cheaper to buy games digitally vs. getting a boxed copy locally.
EDIT: Obviously it's Valve who chose to charge all mainland Europeans in $1 USD = 1 Euro though.

It is? I thought it was obvious it was a demand of the publishers. Steam games are generally priced at the same price point as brick and mortar retail games in the Euro zone.
What's a good deal these days for mainland Europeans is to order the games directly from UK retailers.

I hope the delay is a sign that the game isn't being rushed (ironically, delays often mean that the finished product would be rushed)
I have a soft spot in my heart for Obsidian because of all those Black Isle Infinity Engine games. :)
I hope this game is a real rpg, and if so, I want it to succeed because, outside of Obsidian, only indie companies and european companies still have that old school approach to rpg's.
Everybody else is making so-called action rpg's with more action than rpg. Even Bioware couldn't resist the temptation.
