Dear Christ, whoever green-lighted that fuck-awful hacking minigame, and then tied game progress to it, needs to be taken out back, shot and dumped in a pit of lye.

interesting. maybe this was just a hiccup? or they started an internal revolution...

Yeah except the part where he kicks down a door and the guard five feet away doesn't even hear it.

There's the awesome part where he dis-joints his own thumb 20 seconds in, goddamn rigging flaws.

epic fail #1: i'm left-handed, and i usually play IJKL instead of WASD. AP rejects remapping the "I" key for whatever reason. maybe some narcissistic thing telling me i shouldn't think about myself quite that often?
edit: quick first impression after training mission: i like the dialog system so far, dislike 3rd person camera (but it is bearable), combat is quite easy for now whether i use melee or the tranq. pistol. what i didn't expect: zero bugs, even alt-tabbing works without issues :p
i'm playing a techy-sneaky kinda guy. as for the mini-games: lock picking and alarm systems are ok, but i already hate the computer hacking system...and you will find yourself in a mini-game every few minutes which i'm sure will get quite annoying.
edit2: boy do i hate checkpoints. i'm in a safehouse and spend a few minutes reading and answering emails (cool feature btw), watching tv and so on...but how do i quit the game without loosing that progress? exactly, i can't. fuck that.
and i found the first severe bug: in the first sneak mission you spawn covered behind some obstacle when you first start it, with an enemy behind it. but if you restart at the checkpoint you are suddenly standing up and off goes the alarm without any chance of reacting :(
ok, now i'm starting to get frustrated. want to climb over an obstacle probably the height of your ankles? use that neat stack of crates to climb over a wall? sorry, only if the designer put some yellow hovering thing for you into the level. am i missing something?

Previews made this look very poor. Confirm/deny.

There are elements which bug me about it, some of which are quite fundamental. The concept is really good, and the idea of the whole thing is interesting, but the execution of the gameplay feels fairly outdated and repetitive.
Unforgivable are the checkpoint system and the computer hacking minigame.

i wouldn't call it poor...but it's definitely not more than 6/10. it keeps me playing, and that's probably a good sign.

Oh yeah, I'm still playing, and it may get better as I ease into the mechanics more and level up a bit.
TBH, I found STALKER hard going until I got to the Bar, then it snuck right into my top 5.
I'm enjoying it, and playing stealthy is proving fun.
